For anyone with the Mobtown tailgate reinforcement.Does the weight of this have any affect on the tailgate dampening?

Yes it does, most have stated that you have to lightly help it.

Non existent with a full set of Mobtown plates.

With the tailgate protector and the tailgate top protector it makes the assisted tailgate totally useless.

So it just slams down? Damn I got so used to the dampening on my Tacoma that when I open other people's tailgates I expect the same but instead they slam down and I look over the owner smile and apologize :(

On the upside you wont have to apologize since you wont drop it anymore.
The new tailgates are suposed to be better than the 2nd gens and shouldnt deform. I have personally put about 260-300# dead centre of the gate and had no issue with twist etc.

It's like any other assisted tailgate that is normally 20 lbs and is now 45 lbs. :)
