My salesman at my dealership never even brought up the transmission or the shifting. I noticed the shifting on my own. I had the TSB performed on my truck and my issue was resolved. I understood in the first place that this was a 3.5 liter not 4.0 liter. I think for the weight of the truck this engine still moves this truck real well if you learn and get use to just applying a little more accelerator and it will scoot. At least my truck does.

I saw a Limited with 700 miles when I was looking at mine and the salesman said the guy purchased the truck then 1 month later got a job with a company truck. Things happen some times.

Did you ask the Salesman how in the world the Dealership ended up with it? Would the guy that got a Company Truck not sold it Private Party or would he sell it back to the Dealer and take a bigger haircut?

I didn't ask. I wasn't really looking at Limiteds. Maybe the dealership worked with him?

I've got a bit over 36,500 miles on mine since new on Jan 15, 2016. Runs fine. Tows good size trailer too. Had to buy waders though when I step out of my TRD to get through BS flow from whiners here.

A friend of mine purchased a Tacoma OR that had 400 miles on it. The GM of the dealership was using it as his daily driver. The GM decided to drive a different Toyota. The friend got a good deal.

I recommend you drive it and see.

Some are bothered by the fact the truck does a bit of shifting by design. Also, the engine tends to make power at higher rpms than the older models. You have to give it a bit if gas to get the truck to move quickly. It's just the design. It's not a reliability issue. A few have had actual reliability problems. I've got around 23K on the clock and have been quite pleased by the truck. It's better than the older models.

If you can understand and accept this, you'll be fine. If not, you'll send the truck back.

I don't buy "Didn't you drive it before you bought it". I drove three. Then they had to find a sport with what I wanted and in my color. Also; what percentage of people order ?

Just put it in D and drive it as you normally would, in traffic and highway. During each, find a hill and press down as to when you think it should downshift. You'll know right away.
