^^ I'm diggin' that shot, along with many of the others on flickr. The cars are nice yeah, but something about how you process them as well. Gives me that comfy feel.

I haven't posted here in a while, but here's a few recent images to share. I am starting to work on next year's calendar. I didn't do one for 2017 and caught lots of grief from friends and family, so... these are a few likely candidates for 2018. I'm thinking a wetlands theme.

some of this, a little of that
I really like the low perspective on this one, is it slightly tilted to the right? Can you maybe edit and get some of the sky back where it is blown out? Otherwise I like this one a lot

Thanks, it was something I shot on impulse.
Yeah, it's slightly off center and not at a true 90 degrees from the edges, I just set the camera down and triggered it, I was dressed up a little bit and still had some shots of me to take so I didn't really get down and set it up.

I'll try and see how it turns out

I would suggest a more shallow DOF on your portrait shots. What's the f-stop on the lens you're shooting with?

Next time I shoot I'll try that, I do like how portraits with the shallower DOF look.
No clue about the tech specs, I'm completely inexperienced with photography, it's a Nikkor 18-55MM that came with the D60, it's marked 1:3.5-5.6 which I would assume 5.6 would be the F-stop.

1:3.5-5.6 typically means its f/3.5 at the wide angle end, and f/5.6 at the telephoto end, eg the f/stop changes with the focal length. fairly common on consumer zooms, the Canon EF-S 18-200 that came with my EOS 60D has the same range, f/3.5 as an 18mm, and f/5.6 as a 200mm.

Photo's Info tab is telling me it was shot at F/5.3, ISO 200.

Hey all, I am looking for some advise.

I have a Nikon, and I am in the market for a 70-200mm lens. I have had luck with aftermarkets such as Sigma in the past. For those of you using Nikon, which do you recommend? What is the best bang for the buck?

    Thanks!

The 2.8 Nikon is one of their better lenses. At least I thought so.

The duck shots were all with a Canon 5D Mk II and 70-200mm f/2.8L with 12mm extension at close range (I was nearly laying on the ground at the waters edge). I had two 580EX II flashes on stands to either side with external battery packs and Pocket Wizard FlexTT5 transievers. I shot in HS mode (around 1/500 and f4.0) with a PW MiniTT1 transmitter and an AC3 Zone Controller. I literally was there for hours to get the shots. It was nicely overcast, so the flashes really helped pull out the detail in contrast to the water reflecting a real neutral sky.
