Hello everyone I have been looking for a GPS app for my Samsung galaxy tab s. This device is relatively new to me and before that are used Gaia on my iPhone which works very well due to the iPhone having an internal GPS. Curious what you guys use how are you mount it in your trucks please be very detailed I think I'm looking at a Garman glow in the gay app with my Samsung tablet

I bought a cheap prepaid Android phone, installed a 32gb microSD card and loaded it with a few free offline apps. I tried all of them out but haven't really done any in-depths tests on any of them. They all have their pros and cons but I feel they will still be outperformed by a portable GPS unit such as those by Magellan, TomTom and Garmin. The aformentioned 3 companies have their own apps but they are not free.

The following apps are free, and there aren't any trial periods. You can download only the maps you want, so this is handy if you have limited storage space. I really like HERE and the Sygic clones as I can enter an address without any data connection. This shouldn't be a problem if your tablet has a data plan or if you plan to tether it to a smartphone. I have found that sometimes HERE won't try to access the internet to get address info but other times it will ask to connect to WiFi or cellular data to find an address. The Sygic clones appear to have limited address look ups. If it doesn't have an exact address it can route you to the nearest cross street or to an address a block away. Also, an address can be looked up by city or zip code. There were locations where the street won't show up when searching under a city, but it will show up when searching under a zip code. With that said, the offline address lookup on those apps aren't perfect. It was annoying when they didn't work while I was in Hawaii as I ended up using my iPhone and its data. But when they did work they were awesome.

I noticed the following 3 apps are exact clones of each other. I believe Sygic recently bought out GPS Navigation and Offline Maps & Navigation, hence the same user interface amont the 3 apps.

There's some kind of bloodthirsty fur-beast looking creature reflecting in the screen of your tablet, might want to get that checked out

So here's where I'm at, Samsung tablet with a seat mount from Amazon that works really well! It dosent shake and I can bend it wherever I please. Gaia on the tablet which works great with offline maps but my only complaint is the maps that I download can take up to 16 hrs which is a bit rediculous. Otherwise happy with the overall appearance and functionality

Hate to bring up an old thread, but what's everyone using as far as tablets or phones? For GPS, maps, even for stuff like Bluetooth connection for stuff like switch pro?

There was an update to the abovementioned apps where the whole interface was redone. I no longer recommend those apps.

LG Optimus Zone 3, got it on sale at Fry's Electronics for $9.99. This phone can use a micro SDHC card up to 32gb.

Samsung Galaxy Prevail LTE, got it on clearance at Target for $16. This phone can use a micro SDHC card up to128gb. Also known as Galaxy Core Prime depending on the carrier.

Didn't want to start a new thread. Hoping it's okay to bump this old one. I've been using my iPhone for maps when I'm out on the trails, but I'm starting to hate the small screen. Looking for a tablet that's not too expensive and has the ability to hold biggish downloaded maps and show your live location on the GPS apps.

This Samsung Galaxy Tab A has a 7" screen, GPS/Glonass and a slot for a microSD card up to 400gb in capacity.

Scroll towards the middle and click on 'See All Specs'. GPS/Glonass is mentioned twice, once under Connectivity and another under Key Features.
