Hello I have been doing a bunch of research on this topic. I have seen a few forums on this matter but they date back to 2007-2013. Anyways I was wondering if I would need to do any trimming to fit Bfg KO2 285/75 r16s on my 05 Tacoma with a OME 3 inch suspension lift.
    Pics are appreciated!

Depends on what your definition of minor and major trimming is?

I have a 3" OME lift with 285/75/16 KO2's and I had to trim inner fenders, remove mud flaps, and chop the cab mount.

Depend on where where you will be driving. With my 3" lift up front, Frankenstein rear and 285/75/16's I had to remove the mudflaps, trim where the mudflaps mount, CMC, Trim inner fender plastics and beat back the pinch weld and I am still trimming..And I'm still rubbing..

    Offset/backspace will matter as well

I'm on 285 75 16 with 4.5 bs. 2.5" up front and 3 in back. I've only removed mud flaps, trimmed the plastic where the mud flap mounts. nothing else yet. I have a hybrid bumper so nothing to cut in the front. stuffed it pretty good on a trail a few weeks ago and had a big rub. but haven't done any serious off roading since install. probably going to need to do CMC soon.

4.5 bs seems to be the ideal amount, 4.25 and youre trimming a bit more, 4.0 and your nailing your rear fenders when flexing and hitting the cab mounts pretty good. 4.75 and you risk hitting your ucas.

If you want to go wheeling go 285s and a cab mount chop, and maybe flatten your pinch weld not extremely neccessary, and you should be fine i did mine and have been on multiple trips and have been fine so far!

285s will be fine, your truck wont implode with rubbing. Itll be noisy when it rubs but just get out of truck, look where it rubs, and cut that shit off when you get home. Repeat as necessary.

I have 285/70/16(about 1"smaller), 2" lift, no cmc, but minor plastic trimming.

Trimmed inner fender plastic and removed flaps. Still rub occasionally turning in reverse, nothing severe. I won't be taking it anywhere extreme until its paid off (hopefully this year). At that time, I'll probably CMC.
