Hey everyone, been lingering in the shadows for a long time but I think its time to emerge and introduce myself.

I have an old '92 Pickup back on the east coast, but now im back in the game on the west coast with a new first gen '98 Tacoma Off-Road. Found this little beaut and the frame & body looked good (for Canada anyway) so I snatched it up. This would make me the third owner, previous owners father bought it brand new. Has 296k (183k miles) but unfortunately not much for actual service records other than what he told me he did. So, I mean I already bought it but I was hoping you guys might have a heads up for some things to check over. Ive crawled underneath and got a real good look at the frame and anything else I could get my meat hooks on, swapped out the oil with some nice synthetic and a Toyota Filter (thanks to another thread) and gave her a nice wash and plan to swap out the plugs/wires and that's about it so far.

And that brings me to my next point, i bought this older truck over a brand spanking new one for many reasons but i guess the main one being i would like to work on it myself. ive done minor repairs to vehicles in the past, but im no experienced mechanic by any means (that's where this site comes in real handy). But anyway, looking for some advice on some cool mods so heres where I stand:

-not a fan of chrome hoping to do something about the grille (black out?)
    -new tires
-would like to poke the wheels out maybe offset rims or spacers?

So many beautiful trucks on here I know you all can help me!

    welcome to TW!
I just recently became the owner of a 97 tacoma,:dancingbacon:

my suggestion is to just spend sometime visually inspecting every hose, wire, gasket, and harness...
become one with your taco, and get yourself a Toyota FSM.:bananadance:

these trucks are really easy to work on! youre gonna have fun!:broccoli:

    Thanks butsack! (killer name btw)

    Congrats on the new rig!

Yeah shit, unfortunately it didn't come with a FSM (not sure if it was supposed to). But yes, I intend on being very, VERY intimate with my Taco but im also a bit of a noob so I don't want to find myself sketching out/replacing a bunch of shit I don't have to yano? ahah but again thanks for the love! and wish me luck on becoming one with the TACO! :benchpress:
