Been going Atleast twice a month. Just did logandale last night and hoping to do rocky gap Saturday night with a group. Mainly do hard rock crawling trails though.

The Vegas fj group on Facebook is always posting mild trail runs. Or try to join "where we wheeling" for more serious trails

Anybody tried to follow the power line install roads along the Virgin River? I'm on the north side of the Virgin River outside Mesquite along Gold Butte rd. I can see on the south side of the river there are roads cut. I think those roads were cut to install the power lines to Mesquite from Hoover Dam.

I tried to follow the lines a bit, but there's some nasty washouts. I bet those roads were cut to install the electric lines back in the 1930's.

yeah you can follow those power line roads. you can take it from Mesquite to Overton/Logandale I know, but all the way to Vegas might be a stretch. I have heard of people doing it but not on power line roads. Not sure the power line road stays on the south side of I-15 all the way. You run into Logandale Trails OHV and can take that to Byron road but then you hit the Indian Reservation.
I haven't been down them in awhile so it could be washed out a bit from storms.

I have officially arrived and getting settled. Is anyone doing anything on a weekly basis or is it a "if and when" kinda deal? Hope to meet some of you soon?

If anybody is interested, I will be doing a Mojave Road trip Thanksgiving weekend (22-25 November).

    ROUTE:
The route is about 140 miles from Laughlin to Baker.

    WEATHER:
Low 60's in the afternoon / High 30's at night
30% chance of rain on Sat/Sun.

    STUFF TO BRING:
    - 4 days worth of food
    - Cold weather gear (30's at night)
    - 2-4 bundles of firewood
    - Spare Tire
    - Recovery gear (straps, shovels, treads)
    - Tools you need for your vehicle

DIFFICULTY: Easy to mild. 4x4 required.
Pretty easy with bypasses for any difficult spots. The only concern will be the water crossing at the end and if it rains in the dry lake bed. Plan to drive all the way up to the river crossing and if it is too deep there is a bypass to the highway. The mud at the lake bed can get very bad if it rains and could end the trip.

ITINERARY: First day will be pretty scheduled to get everything sorted. Once we start the trail we will just plan where to camp based on our pace. There are 10 different options along the trail to camp.

    -22 Nov
    08:00 - Meet @ Bass Pro
08:30 - Leave Bass Pro for Laughlin
10:15 - Laughlin South Point Market gas station
10:45 - Start at Mojave trailhead in Laughlin

    THINGS TO SEE:
    - Balancing Rock
    - Fort Piute
    - Piute Corral
    - Petroglyph Drawings
    - Penny Can Tree (Bring some pennies!)
    - Government Holes
    - Mojave Mailbox
    - Lava Tubes
    - Brannigan Mine
    - Traveler's Monument
    - Arbuckle Mine
    - Afton Station
    - Triangles
