    They should balance just fine.
Ask if they tried rotating the tire on the wheel to spread out any heavy spots.

In my personal experience Firestone sucks. Long story short, I got a set of maxxs online and went around the day they arrived looking for a shop to mount them. Firestone had an opening bout an hour till they closed so I came back at that time. All the techs left and a new guy mounted and balanced my wheels. Going past there closing time they finished. There was an absured amount of weight on the tires and they said they couldn't get one to balance correctly so they put it in the rear. I grabbed the truck and went home. Next day I'm taking it all in and it was the worst weight job I've ever seen and he damaged two tires removing them, all 4 tires were perfect besides low tread. I was furious went back in there asked to speak to a manager, said look at the gouges in the bead of the old tires from your tech.. manager literary said that may have been there already I'll be right back. I was like whuhh da fuck. He came back said yea the tech admitted to damaging the tires trying to remove them, he's new so gotta give him a break.. I said are you kidding, if he's new why wasn't anyone helping him. He said I came at the end of the day and the rest of the techs left to go home. I said I don't care what time I show up I expect the same professional job from all of the techs no matter what time it is. And I said wtf is with all the weight on every tire and telling me he couldn't balance one.. he said he doesn't know how to use the road balancer yet. I was in shock at this point. I in no way blame the new guy who worked on my truck, I blame Firestone for leaving him by himself. They ended up redoing my mount and balance from a "good" tech and ordering me two brand new Maxxs for the ones that had gouges in the bead from removal. This all happened because my buddy's shop was closed the day the tires came and I was too anxious to get them on. I will never ever deal with Firestone again, especially the one on Route 37 West in Toms River NJ.

Ohhh man. I wished I would have read this before doing the alignment this morning:eek:
I have had the same experience, not from firestone, but from an oil change place.
All in all alignment went well. The truck drives straight, but I still have the shimy (not in steering wheel ) anymore, but in the truck itself.
It definitely doesn't shake as much as before the alignment and balance tho.

They took out a bunch of weights of the tire. Apparently the guys who installed it (local shop) did a terrible job at it

I've got Michelin M/S 2's on my Ist gen now. Great tire where it doesn't snow and there isn't a lot of mud but they don't quite cut it where I live now. They are the best on wet roads and dry hardpack roads. Even rocks to a certain extent but when it's wet and you're off the pavement they suck because they fill right up. Deep mud and deep snow are the worst. Besides, they are developing cracks in the side walls and are about 5 years old so they need to go soon. Maybe older than that. I haven't checked the "born on date" yet. I've only got about an inch of lift and I'm thinking of some 245/70 R16's to replace the 265/70 R16's with. Considering how heavy these tires are the 245/70's will only be 6 lbs heavier than the MS2's and from what I can tell the 245's are only about 1" narrower than the 265's. As far as off road prowess I doubt I'd lose much with 1" less rubber on the road and the extra 6 lbs per wheel could be offset a little in the future with aluminum rims If I wanted to. I am thinking about the 245/75's but doubt I'll go that route. Mine is an RC and I have all the clearance I want for wherever I might go. Being as I have a 2.7 adding a bunch of weight to the wheels and height to the tires isn't going to do my already gutless wonder any good. Especially, since I drive around at 7000 feet. 245's might look a little "dorky" because they won't fill out the wheel well but I could live with that.

Keep an eye on Amazon. A few days ago they were $205 each, then went up to $255 and now down to $240.

I've wished for 4:56's ever since I owned my 2.7 and I have stock rim and Michelin MS/2's on it. If I put even 245's on mine I'm going to wish even more for 4:56's. Not that I intend to do a re-gear anytime in the next millenium. It might happen but that depends on what life throws at me down the road. 4:56's would be real nice even in stock, 1st generation Taco form with the 2.7. That's why I'm thinking 245/70R16's. Wish they made a 255/70R16 in the Cooper.
