    Good morning TW,

My insurance policy is coming to an end next month and I am going to be shopping around insurance. Right now I am paying about $140 per month as a 24y/o with a spotless driving record. I am curious what you might be paying, that way I can figure what I should consider to be a 'good deal' or not.

    Thanks all!

What are your deductibles and what is your coverage?

Rates also vary depending on where you live. I get two completely different rates from two towns only a couple miles apart. It's best to really just to get a bunch of quotes and compare. If anyone offers discounted bundles, like adding renters to give you a multi policy discount, that also helps alot.

I think at 24 you get a discount on insurance if you have a clean record. You need to look at everything ... i pay for a 2015 tacoma and 2016 bmw 528 290$ a month but thats uninsured motorist 500 deductiable car rental and 100k coverage since i work in arwas where there is alot of high end cars

The odd thing, my 2011 Murano costs more to insure than my 2017 Tacoma

I see you have Arizona and California listed as your home location.
If you can insure or of California you will probably stand to save some money. Our rates here in California are ridiculous.

Heres what matters on insurance rates, whether their obvious or not, it's from my experience.

    1. Sex (males get charged more)
    2. Age (The younger you are the more you pay)
    3. Vehicle (one that is statistically broken into or stolen more has higher rates)
    4. Driving experience (obviously, no record, better rate.)
    5. Location (Live near high thefts/vandalism areas, rate goes up)
    7. Miles (Drive a lot, rate goes up)
    7. Everything else (deductibles, multi policy and other such items will all effect premiums.)

Could be due to security features, theft statistics etc...

I think my coverages are 300k/500k/300k and my bill will be a little under $500 every 6 months for the 17.

Yeah I don't know. Security and safety wise it's pretty much the same. The Tacoma does have the BSM and such though but it's not that much off for that.

Use an insurance broker. They shop like 5-10 different companies for you and then come back with the lowest one.

If youre in AZ, my buddy from high school owns his own firm, you can PM me if you want his number, they also shop for you every time you renew so you will get the better deals.

In CA under mercury I pay 1250 a year with 250 deductibles for 100/300. Im 34 and have had no at fault accidents but I was quoted in AZ for less

My truck is registered at my property in Chandler, AZ however I am living in LA. Full coverage, $500 deductible. I got an online quote from Geico for like $95 with similar coverage using my address in Simi Valley, CA where I live currently. I figured the LA rates would be higher as well, which confuses me:confused:

One thing to mention however is that the policy I have now was originally set up for my (previous) WRX STI. Mid-policy I bought the Taco and switched it over, dropping the STI which bumped it down from 210/mo to where it is now.

Ideally I'd like to keep it registered in AZ for a myriad of reasons, so @avitaco I'll def shoot you a Pm!

Thanks guys keep the responses coming!! :):):)

For years, I carried a $500 deductible for comprehensive insurance. Every year or two, I needed a new windshield. I seemed to pay the majority cost of the windshield. I found out that for $8 more every 6 months, I could carry a $0 deductible. Strange thing is, since going with the $0 deductible, I've not needed a new windshield. It also covers someone damaging your car in a parking lot and they drive off.

It is always better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

USAA recently raised my rates. They said the reason was they had more claims than average where I live. I've never had a claim, but I guess I get to help pay for those that did.

For my 2016 Tacoma SR5 I4, I pay $272 for 6 months with $500 collision and $0 deductible for comprehensive.
