    Greetings everybody!
The replacement frame didn't cure my 98 Tacoma's transfer case issues. I've found one locally for a bargain, but it's out of a 6cyl. Are the transfer cases for these trucks interchangeable from 6cyl to 4cyl?

    Thank you!

    Chadley,

I believe they are interchangeable. I don't see any reason why there would be a difference when the transmissions are the same between the 6 cylinder and 4 cylinder engines.

    Good Luck,
    Paul

I'm pretty sure there are differences.

I'd suggest changing the title of the thread. Something along the lines of "TCase compatibility questions".

The title now doesn't really suggest there's a question.

    Tristan,

What differences do you think there are between the 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder transfer cases? Remember the R150F and the automatic A340 transmissions are used on both of these engines. I am pretty sure the bolt pattern for the transfer cases are compatible for both the 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder engines as well as the transfer case itself. The only difference I could possibly see would be a different transfer case between the manual and automatic transmissions. I could be wrong, though.

    Thanks for responding,
    Paul

I think you are right with different transfer cases for both manual and auto transmissions. Also there are push button / J lever transfer cases, and I'm not entirely sure if they can be swapped out with no wiring problems.
