I went with the Duralast Gold. Did a little research, saw they are made by Johnson Controls, rated pretty well. My autozone had tested my OE battery for me then gave me a jump to get home (didn't have a portable jump starter, had to haul a deep cycle and cables out to do it).

As Bluegrass says, coolest thing on the market is starting to mean dick to me as I get more gray hairs. Good enough is good enough. Spent a lot of time and energy in my younger days overthinking purchases like this. And paying more for something that might just be a little better. Pretty clear from posts here that you can get most of a decade out of a cheap battery. If I can't, well, at least I didn't spend huge dollars. And I have a 3 year warranty.

Part of getting older is learning to focus on what matters and learning to not care about what doesn't.

Slight lift for function. Mods galore.
My battery was exactly three years old and I got stranded at my office today. Got a jump from a 1400amp jumper and drove it to Advance auto parts and got their "AutoCraft" brand. Probably crappy.

Granted it is only 2 yrs old, but that's what I got for my wife's RAV4 when her original died. 2 yrs ago and never even slowed down a bit in the cold winter nights here.

    I added a bolt once...
My experience: 2014 DCSB, 26k miles. Battery went dead last night. Worked fine until I came back out of the store and no crank...got a jump, made it home, plugged into 2a charger overnight. Nothing...Dead.

2012 Rav4 battery in wifes car did the same thing at about the same miles.

Starting to think Toyota OEM batteries are crap.

I got 7 years on my OEM battery, maybe you got a bad one or making too many short trips and it would never charge up enough

Heat kills them faster than cold. I hear places like Texas have a tougher time with 100+ Temps killing them in a few years in stop n go traffic.

Stock OEM its over 9 years old/95K miles and still running strong. I honestly surprised it hasn't died yet especially with varied temps of heat & cold up in mountains and camping trips. I am also running larger amp for upgraded stereo and (2) 10" subs since 2009 with extra lights so I figure she is about to die but no real signs as turns over first time. Guess I am lucky!

Mine just went last week. I went to autozone to dump some oil then came home and an hour later wouldn't start. Bought the Duralast Gold next AM.

Same here, I'm at about the same mileage. Just changed the oil at the dealer, and they tell me that I need to replace my battery soon. Frankly, I'm surprised it's time to replace the battery already.

Thank you everyone one here for your recommendations.

Long story but my hazards were on all day earlier this week, got home and the battery was drained, jumped it and drove around for about 30 minutes, been fine since, think I need a new battery? It is only a couple years old and low mileage, plan on getting it tested this weekend but just thought I'd ask.
