So I got it wired finally and it works just like I wanted it to. It seems different companies use different colors from the relay. Just took a few blown fuses and trial and error. Thanks to all for their input. Below is a schematic for the Mictuning light bar. Lots of trial and error and a few blown fuses and its done. The switch illuminates with the lights on, then the "lightbar" icon lights up with the light bar is on.

    Working on it!

Thanks for the post and all the help. Question for you all. With this setup does the light bar turn on regardless of the key(truck) being in the on/run position? Stated another way does the light bar turn on if the truck is off?

If I want mine light bar to only work if the truck is on. Where should I connect the power wire to the relay in the engine compartment?

    Thanks in advance,
    Nick

@NMPatronis. Yes the bar will turn on when the truck is off. Unfortunately my knowledge with electrical quite limited as I got a lot of help from @windsor. I'm assuming you would need to either attach the power side of the relay to a fuse that only has power when the truck is on rather than the battery. However I'm only guessing. Sorry I'm not much help but I'm sure one of the fine lads on here can help a brother out.

Thanks PlankRider6. Your schematic worked perfectly... I will need to find a power source other than the battery.

Plankrider6, I wish I would of read your fix before my install. I followed caliraised instructions and I had exact problem. Light switch stayed hot all the time. Light worked and i could turn on and off, but switch stayed lit even with add a fuse removed. On a positive note the light was super bright even in the day. You would think Cali would fix their install instructions. I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks for your fix.

@TexTaco2017 you're more than welcome. I hope it works out for you. I emailed and messaged CaliRaised but they clearly haven't done anything about it.

Thanks a bunch PirateMedic3. I was starting to get flustered. You saved the day. I'm not sure why Caliraised would have people wire up things wrong. It's not good for buisness.

Did you wire that switch to the prewired setup? And where did you get the switch that fits that spot? I got one but it's a different size than the places on the left :(

No problem. Thanks @PirateMedic3 for providing an updated wiring schematic. Glad everyone is getting benefit from this thread.

Thanks to @PirateMedic3. Couple other things I found during installation:
    • Use 3 or 4 layers of foam from the box to align the bar and bracket slots
    • A little bit of vasoline works wonders pulling the wires through.
    • Get one size longer (2-3 mm or 1/8”) Allen bolts to engage all the thread in the light bar end caps
    • Run bolts through the end caps prior to install to clear out some of the excess powder coating on the bar inserts.

I have the same harness plugged into one of the switch blanks on my truck. Which wire did you tap into to power the switch illumination when the headlights are on?

For the illumination of the switch, I used the green wire that goes to the OE plugs behind the blanks. Just verify with test light or DMM.
For the light bar, I put an add-a-fuse in the high beam slot in the engine bay fuse panel. Ran the wire to the new switch then back to the engine bay for the control side of a waterproof relay. That way the light bar will only turn on with the high beams (and if I have the switch on).

Thanks. I did something similar with the fog lights I installed, but used the low beam fuse. The switch came pre-wired, so I didn't mess with it at all. It illuminates when I turn on the headlights. I'm not sure if the upper and lower illumination are separate, but I would prefer the upper illumination to light when the headlights are turned on, and the lower illumination to light when the switch is turned on to light the fogs. The switch that came with my foglights looks just like what mictuning and ch4x4 sell and isn't latching right, so I may pickup another and figure out how I need to wire it to get what I want if it's possible.

Hey guys new to the site and Tacoma's, thanks for all of the info on this thread really helped me when adding my light bar.

I have a question as to which fuse people with GEN 3's are tapping into to have their light switch illuminate when head lights are on? I have a 2017 Tacoma sr5, I installed a OEM style switch.

    Thank you in advance

    Dylan.

I tapped into the TAIL fuse. Should be a 7.5A fuse, on the driver's side of the fuse block. Use one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BU59QA8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That little LED is not going to drain your battery. I have had mine wired up like that for months without issue. I have even gone 7+ days without driving my truck and it started up fine
