So, I was replacing my stock bumpstops with Wheelers superbumps and the passenger side nut that is tack welded on broke once the stock bumpstop was half way off.

If this happens to anyone else, hopefully I can save them time learning from my mistake.

That nut is a square, 14mm nut that is not easy to get secured.

to loosen it, I used an adjustable wrench and eventually I got the proper size and was able to unscrew it. From there, I used a regular 14mm wrench and carefully positioned it over the hole and screwed in the superbump into it. takes a long time and be careful or the nut will slip out of the wrench.

I did all this with an IFS skid on (pelfrybilt) and LCA skid (A.T.O.). I did jack the corresponding side truck up using a hilift and sliders to get the space to twist the allen wrench.

You will need to cut the allen key by about 1 1/4" and shave some off the smaller 90* angle part for this to work. Def better to cut small and keep "inching" your way smaller bc once its too small, theres no going back.

    Hope this helps someone!

My passenger side one was busted off during OEN bump stop install when they swapped the frame. Dealer just left it 80% screwed in so the bump stop was rattling around. Took me a long time to find it.

Super annoying. I replaced mine with a lock nut.

So this just happened to me. What I thought would be a 10 minute job (as it was on the passenger side) turned into a much larger one on the drivers side. Can I ask, how can you just twist it off? Any alternative methods than using a 14mm to try and get it off?

I couldn’t seem to get ahold of the square nut with a 14mm, BUT, I also didn’t work at it, as it was getting dark.

If the OEM bump stop is still on, just use a metal blade and cut the bolt off and push it through.

what do you mean? Thread the new bolt through and in turn push the old, snapped one out? Theres no threading exposed though.

If the bolt snapped off in the welded on nut, use a punch/hammer or air hammer and break the nut off from the hole in the bump stop mount. It’s just a small tack weld, it should be pretty easy to break it off.
Then just use a bolt/lock washer to install the new bump stop.

ohhhh, shit that is a great idea. I could try and just break off the nut and then just place another in there. HMMM got me thinking now!!! hahahaha. Problem is, there is no way I could fit a punch and a hammer in there due. could barely fit pliers yesterday when I tried to grab the bolt and unscrew it. gonna try lock jaw pliers and try unscrewing it tomorrw. Ill see If I can fit a punch and hammer there. Thanks for the idea.

Punch it through the hole in the bump stop mount, like punching vertically up. That’s how I did it.

I’m not sure what you mean
I ended up getting it out using vice grip needle nose pliers and unscrewing it
Took a million turns but it’s out. Basically a bunch of quarter turns p
