Low Profile Winch Bumpers for 2nd Gen

Does anyone have experience with these low profile winch bumpers? Do you like them, and any brands that you guys recommend.
I like the look, price, weight and practicality of these, but are they worth chopping up your stock bumper or just getting a heavy duty off road bumper like pelfreybilt's?

 

I have a US Offroad bumper. It's done what I needed, when I needed it. Looks great.

It all depends on what you're looking for. Some off the winch bumpers require less cutting than others. If you did a full plate bumper, would you keep the stock one?

If you want to keep the factory look of your truck then go with the bumper in the picture. But if you want something with better clearance then go with a pelfreybilt.

Keep in mind that if you rear end someone you will a have better outcome with a pelfreybilt.

 

I like the look of the '12-'15 bumpers with that "2 toned" front bumper that's why I am looking at these type of winch bumpers! I would like to keep the front as stock as possible so I'd keep my the stock one! Plus price wise I don't think I want to spend that much on a full bumper when stock wise they look so good!

Love the setup but it's basically the same price as a full plate bumper.

 

Yeah, I hear ya but for me I'm willing to pay for what I want.

My truck ceased to be a budget build the day it left the dealership lol.

Love my US OFF ROAD (style seen up to). Enough room in the gap for both a pair of cube lights, but also room to operate the winch clutch and plug in the wired remote without having to open the hood. Installation was straight forward, I do recommend getting the fairlead and winch installed first before putting the bumper in place. I did it the other way round and make for a few more curse words that necessary.

 

@cuda2k did you have to do any cutting I'm not that great at stuff like that and worry about messing up the real bumper but really want this bumper

 

I have a US Offroad set up, and I love it.

A couple things I like about it:

The fair lead mount is perpendicular to the ground, so you don't constantly dig your fair lead into the dirt.

The cut out above the winch is great for accessing the spool and checking how your rope is winding. Very few Tacoma bumpers have this option, even though access to this zone is critical.

As far as cutting goes, the bumper is super easy to cut, and can be cut with a knife.

 

For the US Off Road there's two things you have to cut
1) The recovery loop on the passenger side of the front frame cross member, this takes maybe 2 minutes with a cutoff wheel. Spray little rustoleum on the exposed metal ends to prevent rust from forming. This is completely hidden when the bumper is in place.
2) there's a piece of the painted bumper cover that sits behind the gray plastic lower valance that has to be cut out. Follow the instructions provided, leave an inch at most from the edge of where the valance piece sat. I started off really conservative with my cut and ended up having to trim several times before I had enough removed for the bumper cover to sit right. I think the perfect tool for this is probably a really good pair of tinsnips or old (but still sharp) pair of good kitchen sheers.
