I've installed mine but now realize that I did not install an inline fuse on the 12V. Do I need one? I didn't see any fuse mentioned on any of the threads or I've missed it. Any thoughts?

I know there's delay in the actual ignition sequence when you're using Apple Watch, what if I just use my iPhone, is it any quicker?

Thanks to the OP (gpb) and the second guy (PJnc284) who took the time to share their writeups on how to install this product. I ordered mine pre-programmed and shipped to my door for less that $92 and installed it myself today with their guides. I soldered all connections and was done in less than two hours.
Now i have a remote starter without an unneccessary extra key fob to help fight the fridgid winter mornings :)

So this is just a curiosity question - I have had no issues with the dball or with the Smart Start and use it daily, but one thing I would like to know is if there is a way to where I can remote start the truck, but not have the radio come on? If the dash lights are on, no biggy, but there are has been times I forgot to turn the stereo off or turn the volume down and it is playing while the truck is running. Not a huge ordeal, but thought I would ask

I agree, but it was worth asking. I guess in theory I could do a switch on the power or ground lead to the head unit and just remember to hit the switch to kill power to it, but that seems like a lot of work ha ha

Just ordered a DBALL2 on eBay....seller is going to flash it for me.

Our 2-car garage only fits 2 cars if nothing but the cars are in there....so my brand new truck has to live outside. :( Looking forward to getting this installed!

Thank you for the detailed instructions gpb!

I just read this whole thread, very informative. I have one question. Do you have to restart the vehicle after opening the door because of the anti-theft feature?

I can remember to turn off the stereo, but sometimes I think it would be better if the screen didn't come on so for now I just hit the home button and turn the stereo off.

Finally received my DBALL2 yesterday and spent the afternoon installing. During programming sequence, light remains constant red.....no green. Have checked all connections multiple times. Any advice?

I ordered this DBALL2 from an eBay vendor who was supposed to flash it for me prior to shipment. If it had not been flashed, would that result in a constant red?

Well I'm an idiot. On about the fifth time checking connections I found two that were switched. All is good now and it operates properly.

I would love this on my taco... could there also be a program to open windows too? I'll pay for someone to install for me! California is going to be hot soon.

The window option is a feature I would like too, but knew that wasn't an option with the dball.

i also looked at DB3 today and was thinking that would be a better fit (newer) and i thought i saw something about it not needing to be flash as it auto installs the firmware ? maybe i just am getting blurry eyed after reading TW for the past 3 hours .... and maybe if i wait till fall there will be a t harness out for the truck ..... i hope....

I went with the dd3, Basically same setup. Not sure about the not needing to be flashed, I personally flashed mine before I installed it. I purchased the flashing dongle because I have a few vehicles that I plan on installing a db3 on but mostly because I like playing with new stuff. :)

In db3, it's mentions door lock over ride and it mentions Toyota, does that mean that it won't kill the engine when I open the door?
