Where to buy ? Wheels?

Ok ,having a problem finding wheels . Truck is lifted 2.5 " . Looking to put 285/75 16or17s .I think what I need from all the research here I've been doing are wheels with a -12 off set and a 4.5" backspace. I do have Tc UCAs also .Also any wheel specs I enter in other websites tells me no product available in that size . Driving me nuts Thanks for any info . Right now running stock steel wheels with 265/70 16s .

Your specs could be correct, depends on the width of the wheel. I work at autoanything.com, if you see any wheels there that you like let me know and I can usually get you a better deal, just PM me

8" wide wheel with 0mm offset = 4.5" BS
8.5" wide wheel with -6mm offset = 4.5" BS
9" wide wheel with -12mm offset = 4.5" BS

for example, 8" wide wheel with -12mm offset = 4.0" BS
8.5" wide wheel with 0mm offset = 4.75" BS

 

Thanks . Running stock steel wheels with 265/70 16s . The width is 10.43 " . So staying the same width or not much wider . About 3/4 " wider with 285/75 .Do you think that is fairly safe ?

 

You can mount 285/75-16 to the stock wheels but you'll need wheel spacers so they don't rub the UCAs. 4.5" back spacing is recommended on our trucks so that the tire doesn't rub. Factory wheels are 5.25" BS.

 

Go to Dustin at www.fnwheels.com does wheels specifically for Tacoma's and 4Runners. Great guy to deal with.

 

4wheelparts is doing 15% of method racing wheels along with free shipping. A set of 17's would run about $720 after tax. Just fyi

Nothing has been installed yet .Having some paint done and minor rust repair at the moment.

I am looking to fit a 285/75 17 Having a 2 1/2 " lift installed with Total Chaos UCAs .

 

Did you mean to say 285/70-17? 285/75-17 is a 33.9" tire and a pretty difficult size to find.

Just for example most 17" Method wheels are 8.5" width, 0mm offset and 4.75" back spacing and that clears just fine with 285/70-17.
17"x8" with 0mm offset or 17"x8.5" with either 0mm offset or -6mm offset will work for you as well.
I have 17"x9" with -12mm offset, and that works too but requires more trimming.
285/70-17 will fit a 9" wide wheel but that's the widest wheel width that tire will mount too. Because of that I've upped my tire size to 295/70-17 just to avoid the possibility of popping a bead while aired down offroad. It never happened with the 285s but I like having a slightly wider tire. If you are looking for 285/75-17 that will mount up to a 9.5" wide wheel so 9" wide should be plenty safe.

Yea , sorry bout that 285/75 will be too big . Do not want to do any trimming .Would just like a taller tire not necessarily wider than what I have now which are 265/70 . So if I go with 285 /70 , a wheel 17x9 with -12 offset and 4.5 bs should be good to go on 2 1/2 " lift with no rubbing ? Thanks for your help !

 

If you want 285/70-17 be prepared for rubbing. You WILL have to cut and trim your fenders. Most people get nervous, but it's the thin plastic inner fender liner, really easy to do. If you off road you'll need the cab mount chop as well.
17"x8" with 0mm offset will require the least amount of trimming, the 17"x9" -12mm offset will require the most.

 

Well now that I have done soooo much research here and on tire web sites , let me ask you this b4 my head explodes ! 285/75 16s are 1" shorter than 285/75 17s so if I stick with a 16" rim I might not have problems with rubbing .Lifted 2 1/2 " with TC UCAs .Will I still need the 4.5 bs and -12 off set . Thanks .Sorry for all the questions just want to know before ordering !

 

Your tire sizes are a little off, if you go with 16" wheels you'd be looking at a 285/75-16. If you're looking at 17" wheels your tire size would be 285/70-17. Both of those tire sizes are the same overall diameter.
You want to keep 4.5" of back spacing, depending on the width of the wheel (8", 8.5", 9") that will range between 0mm and -12mm of offset.
Even with 2.5" of lift and TC UCAs please be prepared to trim if need be. I personally had to trim to fit 285/70-17 tires, there are some members who get by without trimming, and some have to trim more than I did. Unfortunately with trimming it isn't a perfect science, everyone's truck seems to act a bit different in regards to what and where tires rub. Trimming is easy to do, again it's primarily just the thin black plastic inner fender liner. Some might have to have the CMC (Cab Mount Chop) done, some don't, again there isn't an exact science for modifying your truck there is a bit of trial and error.

 

Thanks for your help . Much appreciated. Went to a shop nearby that I have heard good things about . Discussed my lift install and wheel and tire packages. Think I'm going with 265/75 16 with some offset to the wheels , so I should be safe . The more I thought about 32-33" tires I felt like it wasn't worth worrying about trimming and rubbing and stressing out my front end . So I should be safe with this set up . I will post pictures when it is done around April 15 .
