Hey guys, I've done it before but can't seem to get any results out of this darn Taco. It's a 2002.

How do I straighten the headlights? They are super uneven. The only thing I see is basically a bolt sticking out back of the housing, that I can turn. But it just doesn't move them enough.

    Thanks

There's only one adjustment. It's, if I recall correctly, a 4.5mm nut near the bottom of the back of the headlight.

What do you mean by "straighten out"? Are they just incorrectly aimed?

I have some aftermarket headlights on, I think they're TYCO brand. They have my retrofits installed in it. There should be two long bolts sticking out of the headlight housing at the top/right or left, and the bottom right/left. The bolt nearest to the top should control up and down, and the lower one should control left/right movement.

I'm not sure if it's the same for the OEM housings.

I think 01 and newer only had one bolt to adjust for Up/Down. 00 and older had one for Up/Down and Side/Side.

You might want to pull out your bulbs and make sure their correctly oriented.
"They only fit one way" Isn't necessarily true. Shortly after I bought my truck I noticed the beam pattern wasn't right. Turns out my bulb was installed one turn off. So the light pattern was in effect
not flat on the pavement, but vertical.
After I rotated the bulb it was fine.

haha, just noticed it. I read the thread title, saw his profile pic, figured here's a quick link. Didn't read anything at all or check what forum it was in.

Yeah I have a 2011, my fiance has a 2002 and we recently replaced the entire headlights (super foggy and faded) with some new ones from Rockauto I believe, so they aren't OEM. They don't get 100% secure in the body, but pretty sturdy.

One is lower than the other, and she hates it. I can't seem to get the tiny (thinner than a pencil) thing to turn very much, and when I do it doesn't make enough of a change to fix it. Attach55135_20170324_082619.jpg

ahh, looks like I was doing it right but just need to use a 1/4 socket and it might turn enough to make a difference.

I twiested the shit out of those with my finger and the lights barely move at all. The entire housing moves a good inch on their own.. just by moving the housing with my hand. Not the most secure fit in the world.

I'll try a socket tonight. Thanks dudes.

I also got replacement light assemblies. After bolting them in they were still loose.
The ball and socket's weren't made to any sort of tolerance at all. I was able to remove the ball and socket assemblies from the original Toyota lights & put them on the light assemblies I bought.
