You need the whole JBL system (maybe not speakers) but there an amp that bolts up under the passenger seat and *I Think* the JBL HU as well

Yeah about a year ago I was looking into converting to the JBL system from the base system and realized how much work it was, so I just went with aftermarket from Mr. Marv.

 

I got one from @black_cukui while my truck was in the shop. Driving last night, Blakebeats bumpin', and realized that I don't really need a sub- because I'm old. Also don't have time to chase down a amp for it and figure out the wiring. If you can find an amp, you can have the one I got from him. The plug an play OEM Tacoma amps seem to be really expensive. There are plenty of JBL Camry, Sienna, and other Toyota sub amps online for cheap. Don't know if the connectors are compatible.

 

if you're looking for around JBL sound, OEM Audio has a good setup for Tacomas. Something like $1500ish give or take $100 for a full setup with your stock HU or aftermarket. All new speakers and amp and sub that slots in to the drivers side container behind your back seat (so you lose that storage).

 

Yeah, I won't be going back to an OEM head unit. At some point I'll probably upgrade again to a double din Android auto system.

 

Oh, that's good then! From everything I've researched, the OEM HU sucks balls when it comes to sound quality. Something about how it equalizes sound, I forget exactly what. I need to pick up a new HU myself one of these days.
