What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

im pretty happy with it on 35s, does everything i need it to do but all i really need is snow wheeling.

the triples were interesting... they had never been installed in a tacoma that had a case clocked flat like mine. they would have worked a lot better, but we had to make custom linkage to get things to connect. if i was to do it again i would just do the normal non clockable cases as well. i gained some clearance but i dont know if it was enough to make it worth it.

I only ever got a light because I was way over loaded and my torque converter was slipping too much doing a steep grade. No complaints whateovever with 5.29. And 315s. Excellent combo

 

I have just the factory blank. Not quite sure on the color grey interior for seats and floor. Pillar looks tan though... I'll go grab a pic I guess. But if so, thank you

Decided to remove some badges. Ended up left with this. It's a hard yellow material. Glue??? Goo gone didn't work. Heating it didn't work. Any ideas?

Drove it for the first time since shoulder surgery... now I just need to get back to where I can work on it. The pile of parts on the back seat won't install themselves.

Hey guys first time posting on the 1st gen side. Tomorrow I'm going to test drive a 99 4x4 manual taco, like the one I wanted when I was 17. I seek your wisdom regarding the basics I should look out for when I'm testing this beauty. Any heads up will be greatly appreciated !!!

 

Check the frame for rust, especially around the leaf spring hangers.

 

What about the mileage, does 70k sounds reasonable ???

 

Sounds low for a 99, I got mine with 175K now near 220K (actually about 265K if you correct for bigger tires). If it is the V6 those have been known to go well into the 300K mark and some as high as 600K. The 4cyl (what I have) has a couple people that have spun a million and average around 300-500K. Can't go wrong with any of them. Manual or auto tranny?
