My router job didnt come out as good as I planned for the liquid groove but it still worked...I was going to use my small router table for the edges of my cheese press but I ended up misplacing the mount screws for the router. I have them some where but I moved and moved stuff around so now they are lost in a sea of mess...lol. I end up just trimming the edges of the cheese press with my table saw, then sanding the whole thing down.

Hey Guys. Started with a Paul Sellers workbench and a tool cabinet. A bit rough, but serviceable:

Just finished a stand for my wife's meditation bell. Wedged through mortice, stopped mortice, and tongue and groove construction. Except for a drill press, this was done with hand tools only. Walnut and maple.

Thanks! It was kind of a pain figuring out how I was going to bind the book. And then attach the notepad too.

    Build thread in sig...
Not a great picture, but I picked up a sizable live edge red cedar board a couple of weeks ago while on vacation in the mountains. board measures 3.5'' thick, 12''-14'' wide, and about 7.5' long. wife wants one of those tables that goes behind a couch. the dimensions are perfect as is (note, the couch in the picture is tiny, and not the couch that it will go behind). just needs legs and sealing up now. likely going to just do a few coats of high gloss varnish, with the board as is. maybe a little sanding between coats, to lessen the ridges from the grain. overall though, it's going to be a rougher surface. for the legs, i'll be getting away from woodworking, and more into my normal element or welding. not sure on the size of the steel barstock yet, but the sketch will give you an idea of what the final product should look like. only took 4 different designs before the wife found one she liked

steel legs will be welded, and then blended, to make it look like one continuous piece of steel.

    thanks!

..yes, the shelves are red oak, ..the corbels (supports) are maple w/ some nice mild figuring...

I'm finishing w/ sealcoat (dewaxed shellac), ..I'm finding the red oak is kinda a pain w/ this shellac, ..first few coats it keeps puking up the finish and takes long to dry, and doesn't level-off well... the upside is, I think it's a good look for red oak (it's actually a bit darker than the photos seem to indicate)...

    thanks!

it's from a 6/4 maple board... same board from which I fabricated the corbels on my recent fireplace mantle build.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Interesting. I just did a wine fridge cabinet in red oak with shellac and didn't have issue. Which brand are you using?

    I used this...

I'm using Zinsser "Seal Coat" (can is in background of the pics).. it's a similar product to what you've shown, ...I think seal coat is a 2lb cut (and is de-waxed), and what you've shown, I believe, is a 3lb cut (and is not de-waxed)... I've used both, ...but I've run into similar finishing fuss w/ red oak w/ watco Danish oil as well... basically longer dry times, and regurgitation of first few applications of the finish...
