if it's easy for you please do so and grab a picture. that will save me some time. the list I have going here
    hitcar stepdown
    posi-tap connectors (unknown gauge currently)
an inline fuse of some type as well, I found a 16ga ATM inline fuse just need to know what the gauge of the oem wire is. GF has the truck right now so I cant look until tomorrow a.m.
if you could fill in those blanks in the near future it will save me a bunch of time and frustration in the future. I would appreciate it. G1w-s shows arrival on Sunday.

You'll want to tap into the tan/brown wire on the left side. There is a group of wires that runs toward the front to the mirror. DSC_2411.jpg DSC_2409.jpg DSC_2408.jpg DSC_2410.jpg DSC_2404.jpg DSC_2405.jpg

to your other question, yes it does have a capacitor. the S stands for sony I believe, because it uses a sony CMOS sensor now which is the main big upgrade of it. and yes you can use the same power connector and hardwire kit as the old models, it comes with the standard 12v cig adapter power cord.

i dont recall mentioning that there were any available yet. I don't think there are any yet, if I did mention it maybe I was just talking about viofo's history of providing firmware updates to improve their products. Dashcamtalk's forums would be a good place to keep an eye out on them.

Installed it just now. On a side note I realized the photos weren't really matching up to what I saw. That's when I noticed you didn't have a moonroof. Finding a place to ground it was slightly trickier but all in all it was very simple to do it this way and all assistance was greatly appreciated.

One other thing to mention is to make sure to install it on the passenger side so you don't block the mirrors forward facing light sensor.

Realize this is an old thread but for a 2018 there are some changes to the overhead wire bundle...

Bought an Aukey DR-02 on sale at Amazon for about $50 and a 12v to USB converter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00U2DGLCQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

First, I cut up a gopro mount and epoxied it to the Aukey mounting plate:

Then after I pulled the overhead console I saw the bundle of about 20+ wires. I'm guessing the extra wires were for the extra 2018 TSS equipment. There were multiple brown and black&white wires so I cut the tape bundling the wire back to so I could trace the correct wires going to the rear view mirror. This was a delicate job and it would be really easy to nick a wire so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but my adapter only had a 3' long cable so I couldn't easily run it to the fuse box. Used solder/shrink wrap connectors instead of wired taps. Used a coat hanger to fish the USB cable through the headliner.

    Final product:
