im looking at getting satellite radio for my Tacoma, my reception, due to my corroded antenna base is ok at best. I'm no expert, but will this affect the sxm quality? I'm guessing no as I get good reception locally on my radio if I'm in town, just 30 minutes outside of town it gets staticky. I know in the past I needed to wire sxm directly to the head unit for clarity, which I would do in this case as well.
    Thanks

SXM uses a different antenna than regular AM/FM. Some Tacoma's have the shark fin antenna on the roof for XM, if you don't have an XM antenna, you'll have to find a spot to put it.

It comes with a magnetic antenna. My concern is sxm works off a radio frequency, but seeming a the pickup would be in the truck I'm thinking I should be ok.

i wired my my SXM antenna inside my truck, on the driver side dash right in the corner. It seems to work fine for me.

If you are going to install a aftermarket that connects to your antenna and plays through an FM station, it comes with a antenna. I had that set up in my 2008 Tacoma and just set it on the dash. Worked fine.

I know years ago there was 2 ways to pick up the signal. 1 you tuned into a set fm frequency and hopefully there wasn't any interference and 2 you hard wired the external radio unit to the head unit so that it had priority for that given frequency. This is the route I had to go.
