Being I see you don't own a 3rd gen., I think you should post things tearing up on a 2nd gen. I would prefer that.

Nah, I actually considered getting a 2nd gen a couple of years ago but decided to hold out thinking the redesigned 3rd gen would be a huge improvement. Boy I made a huge mistake not getting a new 15.

But it's all good. I'm happy with my Hilux purchase. If they had a LN65 Diesel Hilux forum, I'd be there, but of course internet forums didn't exist in the 1980's. So I hang around here.

So i guess what you are saying you post things like that to make 3rd gen owners feel bad. Make them think if they use it then the rear diff is going to blow up.

I don't post things to make 3rd gen owners feel bad. I want new buyers to make an informed decision before throwing money on a product they think is reliable as Toyotas of the past.

I feel the 3rd gen is not on the level of past Toyotas before it. The only issues I've encountered with my 28 year old Hilux since my purchase 3 months ago is a bad voltage regulator which compromised my alternator. But even with those issues, it hasn't left me stranded. I highly doubt a 3rd gen can last 28 years. I mean really that would be like 48 windshields the way they keep cracking and getting replaced.

So the older Toyota products didn't have issues when being used in this manner? And what work has been done on that Hilux in its 28 years of operation?

I bought it with no maintenance history. The importer I bought it from changed all fluids, replaced a vacuum pump, and threw in a new alternator (which the bad voltage regulator destroyed). I had a lot of confidence in it before I bought it and it's been great so far minus the small hiccups.

So the 3rd gens aren't allowed hiccups? I mean we are talking a few hundred thousand trucks sold.

Some hiccups in the first 2 models years of brand new 3rd gens are leaving owners stranded. My truck is 28 years old. I expect some hiccups in an old truck, but new vehicles shouldn't leave owners stranded.

Well let me know when your ready to share your image.jpg
    And

Sure new vehicles shouldn't leave one stranded, but shit happens. Oh and in this situation, that's obviously added stress on the truck.

I don't care if it's a 1st, 2nd, 3rd gen, or an F150. I just like watching people break shit while doing something stupid.

With all this commotion about rear differentials howling or snapping on 3rd gens it makes me feel I should trade my 2017 for a 2015 since everyone praises the 2nd gens on this forum.
I love my 3rd gen but all the negativity about the 2016-2017 models makes me feel like I am going to eventually regret my purchase. I probably would love my 3rd gen even more if I never found Tacoma world.
