    Ill be in the market for a new truck this fall. But possibly sooner if I can get my current truck sold. But, if theres something worth waiting for, I will. Ive searched the web. And came up with a frame upgrade (stronger and lighter), And talks of yet another new engine, but no speculation as to what it may be. I just recently started cruising the forum, and doing my homework on the tacoma (will be my first ever), So I figured that you guys that have followed them alot longer might have more information.

    Sounds like that Safety Sense stuff will be added in 2018 and I agree there will probably be a refresh coming when the New Ranger Comes out, 2019-2020 time frame.

    I like a little bit of tech. But too much just makes me cringe at thinking of repair costs later down the road. I kinda find it odd, and pleasing, that the pro uses an actual key. Im almost sold on a pro because of it.

    As long as it is a Manual it will have a Key, that way you can use the Clutch Cancel Switch as designed.

    Thats good news. The only manual truck they had on the lot was a pro. I made a comment about it actually having a key, and the salesman kinda pitched it as only the pro had a key and the OR and Sport were fob.

    DCSB... No mods here
    You can always have an aftermarket push to start kit installed. Not OEM but some companies do a great job on making it look stock. I've only seen these on 05-15 though so you'll have to do your research.

    yeah, used a kit like that on my Yaris, loved it. (was actually Parts from Toyota that were used in the Yaris in Japan) I'm less concerned about push to start and would be more inclined to find a kit for proximity door locks

    Probably will have safety sense and maybe a new colour. Maybe offer Cement as a option besides the Pro.

    You're not gonna see any major updates until at least 2020-2021. This is just how Toyota operates across all their platforms. You can expect from year to year small changes, added content, like safety sense coming for 18, maybe power seats or something for 2019, then a facelift/change for 2021/interior update, etc. We're gonna have this frame, body and powertrain for awhile to come.

    had a rental a while ago with it and definitely fell in love. makes no sense why a manual cant get convenience. apparently Chryslers can offer a push to start and proximity unlock with some of their manuals.... But Chrysler (FCA) Sucks.....

    The reason there is no Push Start Button is because of the Clutch Cancel Switch. They could probably do something with a proximity switch with the doors though.
