Fucking A it's been dumb. Short story no.

Long story, there was supposed to be this waiver that would allow me to work 1039 hours until my anniversary date of starting and then start a new 1039 hours then. Well the waiver came back and they only granted 59 hours until my anniversary date (which would be like a week before I start end of May). So they are trying to figure out why they told them one thing but got this other thing. Damn new gov. administration.

Also, I met with my supervisor and boss at JAM and they said they should've just kept me on because two out of three people they hired quit before starting. So I'm stuck until I hear further or until end of May since I can't get a new job for two months with a guaranteed one in May or a permanent one somewhere without knowing if I got into grad school or not :annoyed:

Yep, I was born and raised in Carlsbad so that was my stomping grounds in my younger years. There is supposed to be a pretty good off-roading area near there at Hackberry lake. I'm gonna go check it out this weekend. I've only had my truck a week and haven't left the pavement with it yet. I'm gonna scream like a girl the first time I scratch it.

Yeah, I have a musician friend who's playing in a couple places around town. Don't even want to go out just to have some tweaked up MF screw around with either vehicle.

Our inimitable mayor better hope he never gets stuck in an elevator with me. He'll have no questions about where I stand regarding the level of BS he's pulled.

So I am new here. I just got my first Taco last month and I'm loving it. I haven't done any body adjustments to it yet though, I want to leave it stock for right now but I have done some little upgrades here and there. One of them being my dash screen (which isn't much, I know). I figured some of you may like this photo for your screen.

lol I could tell he wanted to acknowledge tacos. He had his window down and gave me an initial wave. Then we kept passing each other... lol but I didn't make eye contact with him, I was talking on the phone with work lol. Just saying if it was any of you I'm sorry for being a douche that's all

@syswalla Mind sharing some of the issues with the mayor? We might be looking to move to the area in a year or two. Kinda getting a lay of the land.

Also, if anyone knows, what kind of jobs for a Mechanical Engineer with Power Plant (Nuke, Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine) and Chem Plant experience might be in the area?

LOTS of wiring, dual battery setup, Solar charging system, with some random lights spread around here and there.

Don't worry too much about the current Mayor. He has screwed up plenty but will not be here another term that I can picture. We will probably have a new one soon. You can look at Los Alamos Labs, Sandia Nat Labs or other options on base. Sorry info on job market with that background is limited from me.

The Four Corners generating plant is all that comes to mind at the moment. About 3 hours NW of Albuquerque. And, yeah, the cuurent Mayor is history, but we still have to deal with the broken judicial system. :bananadead:

As others have said, he and his police chief are on the way out. I could go on about how things have taken a turn for the worse and how many of our idiot politicians can't turn it around any more than they could find their ass with both hands, but it's not appropriate here. There actually ARE some good politicians, they just don't have enough support to move things forward against the entrenched parties that run unopposed. And then there's the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Assoc. Unless you are a thug, they are not your friend.

As far as mechanical engineer work, others have stated the best large places to look in the area. The commercial solar industry has been growing around here, so that's something to consider. There are defense contractors in the area that may need your skills if congress can figure out a budget. Also, several smaller companies may fly under the radar that could use ME skills, so as you're probably already doing, look around online using various search terms and see if you can find companies that might be looking or might be worth sending your resume to.

Good luck! We need more people like you in the area.

I have a couple AIR guns, again NOT REAL GUNS, BB guns... up for grabs if anyone has some youngsters and would like to start early on teaching them how to handle a firearm. I've had these since I was a teenager, but they still work fine. They are just collecting dust as I typically shoot real guns these days... free to a good home. Send me a PM or call me if you have my phone number.

Also, @pigger (or anyone else) I have about 400 rounds of .40 S&W brass if you're interested. It should all be good to go for reloading.

Sounds good, Ron. They're all yours. You should have plenty of good places nearby to use them, too.
