I had an undercover winch mount with a Warn VR 8000-s winch, stomped on the brakes and hit a big deer at 4 am driving across Kansas. It threw the deer into the right lane where I’d just passed a big rig doing 75. There was nothing left of the deer but a head on an empty sack of skin. The winch mount is much beefier than the stock aluminum piece, although I had over $5000 in damage, it was mostly plastic parts, lights, right quarter panel, door, some hood & paint.

I was still able to spend a week wheeling in Colorado, so I can attest to the strength of the undercover winch mount, it sustained no damage at all. After that I wanted a beefier bumper, so I went full retard with a TAG bumper.

If we can't get an answer anytime soon, I'll just get something else. Waiting a month for an answer is pretty ridiculous.

Picked up mine this evening along with a Engo 10k winch. Beginning to wonder if I should have picked up the remote extension or wireless remote. With the relative small opening in the lower grille, how are ya'll controlling the winch on your setups? (Trying to avoid any unexpected surprises after taking the entire front end of the truck taken apart this weekend)

If you can't move the solenoid box, the extension might be worth a look. I spliced into the wires unside the box and have a on-off-on rocker wired up in the cab with a separate switch to power the rocker for safety. I should probably still move my solenoid since I would currently have to remove the grill to hook up the factory controller.

Yeah I read about the moving part on his website. Free shipping would be worth it consider how heavy of a part it is.

I'm running a different setup but I mounted the control box for my Warn M8000s on the winch and I have plenty of room to pop the hood and reach down along the grill to plug in the controller.

I have a light mount that blocks the reach down from above. Brad with US Off Road assures me there is enough room to get even fairly big hands in there.

Some people are recommending the relentless bumper reenforcment brackets with this mount. What would warrant these brackets? I don't know why USO would build a mount that wouldn't hold up on the stock bracket mounting points.

I thought I posted on here the other day with the same question as @tpotnoc, but apparently it disappeared. To be fair, it was at 4am I think... so maybe I'll blame myself rather than the website. At any rate, after some more poking around today, I think I've answered the question. The Relentless Fab reinforcement brackets tie back farther into the frame (similar to the Brute Force reinforcements shown in this post). From the way the Relentless brackets are oriented in the pic on their site, I didn't realize it was meant to work that way until I saw the Brutes today.

Per the USO bumper mount instructions, their mount/reinforcement (aka "ear") plates... "act like a giant washer so the nuts have plenty of surface area to clamp down on and enable us to create larger holes in the bumper for adjustability." Beyond that however, I think maybe the intent is also that the surface area spreads any force or stress from the bumper across more of the rectangular area rather than it all being right around the nuts - perhaps lessening the shock in such a small area and therefore reducing the possibility that the factory mount point snaps. Although I'm not even sure how true that would be seeing as how the reinforcement plates sit in front of the bumper mount, not behind. That being said, my thought is that while the USO plates may prevent a small snap of the factory mount point from certain levels of impact/stress, it still seems possible to snap that entire rectangular area of the factory mount point under some marginally greater stress. However on the Relentless and Brute Force brace plates, the USO plate effect would still occur, plus the significant reinforcement gain of being bolted into the frame several more inches back.
