Too poor to list anything interesting.
That's all you'll really need out there. A generator is prohibited in backcountry.

Generators are permitted in designated areas between 8am–8pm in the Rio Grande Village campground. Generator hours in the Chisos Basin campground are 8am–11am and 5pm–8pm. Idling vehicle engines are considered generators in this regard. No generators are allowed at Cottonwood Campground.

Generator use is not permitted in backcountry campsites.

If you guys need anything let me know I have a Coleman 3 LED lantern that worked really well when I was there last time(almost too bright) 2 tables, 1 4ft folding and 1 collapse-able (maybe about 4ft) table I could get to one of you before the trip.

As for lights you may want some Red lights to use to prevent your eyes from dilating and making it hard to see the stars and in the dark. The moon does light up the area pretty well but any white light will make it hard to adjust your eyes. We kept the Lantern off a lot late at night because it dilated our eyes too much. Wish I would have had red lights to have more light but not dilate my eyes.

For everyone that was wanting to meet up with I in Abilene or somewhere around Abilene... I propose this to you.

I will leave Tyler at 4pm Wed to head towards Abilene. I checked the State Park for Abilene and for the 5th and 6th they have a ton of campsites available. So, I am going to get a Campsite for myself for just that night at like $20 ($12 for site, $10 for myself and GF) just to have somewhere to sleep. For the DFW people... instead of leaving DFW at like 4am in the morning... leave Wednesday night and also go to Abilene and meet up with myself at the State Park and we can all camp at the State park that night. This prevents trying to meet up in the morning and people waiting for people to get to the meet up area. We can then all roll out Thursday morning towards Big Bend as one group.

From what I can tell you can have two vehicles per campsite... so if myself and three other trucks are at there then you would only have to pay for 2 campsites which would be like $6 per truck then $5 per person.

This is just an idea. However I think it would work out a lot better than everyone trying to meet up Thursday morning.

Big Bend is still about 5hrs 15min from Abilene State Park... that does not include stops for gas, restroom, and the stop to get groceries for Big Bend.

So if you are interested in this idea either say so or send me a PM so that I can start coordinating this part.

I'm in Irving a few miles from the north end of DFW Airport. I have to put in a full day of work on Wednesday until 6pm and will have to take that evening and get the truck loaded up for the 4 day trip. I wouldn't be in Abilene until around midnight. I'll leave earlier Thursday morning if I need to but for me that's the better option. I should have all of the groceries and everything else I need before I leave my house so it will just be fuel stops and bathroom breaks for me. I can always catch up if others go Wed night. I drive pretty fast anyway.

Ok, just wanted to check. I know that my truck will be loaded up Tuesday night so I can go to work Wed then don't have to worry about packing after work and forgetting something.

Thought that it may be a better plan to prevent issues getting out of DFW and everything that morning and would be easier to meet up and caravan down there.

@ETXTacoma What time are you planning to leave from Abilene State Park? Are you going to go back north to hit I20 or are you planning to go south through San Angelo. There's a Pilot Gas Station on I20 just west of Weatherford. Google maps shows it's 2hrs5min from Abilene State Park. The Thursday DFW group can just plan to meet at the Pilot 2hrs before you're leaving Abilene. If you're going south, we can meet you at the gate of the SP or if you're going back to 20, we can just plan to meet at another truck stop off the highway and get your group and ours together.

Will try and leave the state park by at least 5am.

I want to try and have plenty of time to get to BBNP at like 11am or so.
