Looking into ordering a K&N 63 series cold air intake for my 08' Tacoma. Found it online at Autoanything for $265 free shipping. Anyone have any feedback on these intake kits positive or negative before I purchase? Looking to add a little more hp. Thanks

Don't buy it due to K&N using a oiled air filter which in the long run can screw up the MAF sensor causing your truck to go into limp mode. If you want some good try AFE or Volant. Others will tell you the OEM intake is a cold intake already but that is up to debate. Just get a snorkel like me and be done with it

Meh, ur gunna get noise, and un needed oil into the system.

Hp gains wont be noticed without a dyno, and negligible at best probably on a dyno.
Intake temps will remain the same at the 30/40mph range as stock, or ANY other intake. Id say save your money.

Stock is pulling ambient air at 30 to 40 mph... u cannot beat that. Therefore, it is cold air intake.

Your welcome, bought 1 yrs ago just to test it for temps. Sold it immediately after the testing.

It's not a cold intake if the air filter is sitting on the hot engine soaking up the heat.

    Thats a good point.
Stock intake pulls ambient air, all the way till it hits the filter.

    Edited, good call.

Would the URD or a snorkel be the two best options then?

Id say urd if u dont get a maf seat leak like i did, dont drive through puddles, and dont mind losing performance in rain whenu need to run the hydrophobic sock, and are ok with sheet metal cutting.

Snorkel will avoid water issues, but still some sheet metal work.

Many run and have run afe stage 2 si for many years without issue... its loud unless force fed, but it works.
Volant may be another idea IF they fixed it.... used to runnnnnnnn lean iirc

Afe and volant boxes can run dry filters and do not sit over the engine.

The URD but I don't like cutting the sheet metal or having the filter in the front during rainy season. The snorkel is my favorite because you have the intake encased and sealed up to the snorkel head. The snorkel head has drains holes built in for the rainy season or you can get the pre-cleaner head if you have a panic attack about rain or snow going into it. I drove for 2.5 years with a AFE/volant CAI with the Volant air scoop in heavy rain and snow with no issues. I wouldn't do that with the URD though just because of where the filter is at.

Yup, its pretty shitty when ur getting on the freeway and the truck goes and trips over itself like a great dane puppy. Water touches that maf wire for 1 second, and its a shit storm

I have a K&N 63 I would sell you. Off my 07 4.0, it's in great shape. Never had any oil/maf problems. I do love the way it sounds.
