The base model I am designing will be like a standard truck top and you can keep your tailgate.

Waiting on the weather to die down a bit. It's been pouring rain here in Nor Cal. I'm itching to get it all wrapped up!

We got a break in the rain. Here are pics so far of the bed platform they still need to be secured and carpeted. It measures 78" long and 54" wide. There's enough room to put the second platform onto of the other, but I like the idea of just leaving it out. There's still plenty of room in the bed, but if you need more you can stack the sleeping platforms.

    Looking good Iggy!

How has the MPG and wind noise been? Anything noticeable?

MPG is at 14-14.5. It was about 15-16 before. Keep in mine that's with 35's and 4.56 gears. So it's not bad!

Wind noise it actually nice, not much more than with my previous camper. @Overlanerd took a ride with me for about an hour with it on so he can also chime in on the noise.

Noise was not bad at all. I may be biased since popup campers have been on my truck for 4 of the 5 years I've owned it. With 35's and Kings, I was paying more attention to how smooth the ride was.

Wind noise is just part of the deal and you get used to it quickly. You also get used to glamping in remote places, and it's not a bad tradeoff.

Right on. Was more curious if there was any whistling at all as I know sometimes the square edges can do that.

Excited to see the final tent portion and thanks for everything thus far

Any word on price or lead time? I'm investigating the Tacoma habitat but like this alternative for the bed width.

Been on the fence on ordering the Habitat (stumbled over here from the Expo Habitat thread thanks to @kalieaire cross posting a link).
Something with a wider sleeping area, at least partial solid roof, and a better price would win my dollars easily.

Nothing solid yet. Still working out the detail on the outside fabric. As soon as you see me post up about, it should be a few weeks at most for taking orders.

I did make one small mistake on the bed width, it's 50".

Agreed. If there was an option a little more reasonably priced I would be willing to jump on one.

    Sub, for price and more
Info. Been looking at the AT habitat the price scares me away plus idk if i like it opening towards the back.

Truck looks great like this shell you are making with both rear doors opening up one could still use a truck vault or some other kind of drawers.

Been looking for somthing like this.

    Great job.

Got a chance today to add the awning track to attach the fabric. It's kind of an experiment, but I think this is going to work really well!

I managed to put all the lower track in today, I just need to do the same to the roof and the fabric shouldn't be too far behind. Rivits for days...

Nice! Anxious to see the finished product and some pricing!

MPGs still about the same as a month ago? And what's your ball park city/hwy split?
