Hi guys,When I am driving down the road at speed on the freeway mostly and I let off the gas my truck has a clunk that I can feel as it downshifts, and if I speed back up it makes another clunk as the truck speeds up,It feels almost like the transmission maybe is not shifting right or if maybe the transmission pump ( if it has one) is not keeping up the pressure, maybe the torque converter .My drive shaft is brand new so that's not the problem.Any ideas
    2006 DBLC,V-6,auto with 116,000 on the truck

My 6spd does this when you abruptly take off the gas and then go back on to the gas. I think it is normal, just a bit of play in the drive shaft.

It's the factory leafs being to weak and twisting when braking hard and accelerating quick from a dead stop. basically the leaf springs going from a "U" shape to a "S" shape.

Grab the driveshaft and twist it back and forth to see if the pinion has a lot of slop in the rear axle.

I'd say a lot of play in the rear end would be more than a 1/2"

Hopefully you can get it figured out. I seriously doubt that there's something wrong in the transmission, I would be leaning on the rear diff slop of the pinion

Thanks brother,You are right,I checked it with the truck in neutral and there is way too much slop in the pinion gear.
Pretty sure that's my problem,I have a warrenty for the truck,so its going in too get fixed.

One more thing you might want to check also is the rear transmission mount, just see if you have any movement on the transmission by pushing up on it with some force. Slight movement is ok roughly 1/4"
