I'm swapping out my foglight switch for this switch for my light bar! #aironboard. This will show you how to convert your push button switch to work with factory fog light wiring. You will need to cut two traces and solder in two wires to make this work.

    Parts:
    aironboard.com push button switch
    Sumitomo TS 025 Female Terminal
    22ga or smaller wire

    Comparison

    Disassembly

    Original switch wiring diagram

Modified diagram, with fog light circuit for reference

    Finished wiring
just scratch of the two traces and solder 2 leads between the pins as shown.

Yes, and it does. Switch on upper led is on and the fog light circuit is on. D1 = upper led.

I'm sure the same effect can be achieved with the otrattw switches. From just a quick look I believe it'd be pretty easy.

Yea i am sure. I havent done anything with the fog switch just yet. Is the fog light switch controling the ground wire on fog relay? Is that everyones problem?

Yea you could possibly reverse the polarity of the led.

Oh I see what you mean. There is some bleed through from the lower led to the upper window of the switch.

Does the dimmer work for the upper led?

No. Just for the lower. I wouldn't want the upper to be dimmed. If you dim it on a dependent lighted switch you could lower the Voltage to the relay and your accessories not work.

Great write up as I just ordered two Aironboard switches. One will be for a new light bar, the other will replace the stock fog light switch like you did.

My question is, if this mod is not done, what would be the problem< backlight won't work, switch won't work? I am guessing I will have to do this to both switches?

For the foglight switch you will need to do this. If not the upper LED won't light up correctly. You shouldn't need to do this for the other switch.

Well... time to attempt this mod. This weekend I got to play my first ever game of Roadside Stupid Human Tricks.

And I was stone cold sober. But thanks to the intersection of four silly things, there I was.

    1) some coworkers and I went out to a lake and had some beer. I didn't drink though, I drove.

    2) Due to an unfortunate incident with a Great Dane, I had beer spilled on my sweatshirt.

    3) It rained the day before and I had turned on my fog lights. But without an indicator like a lit button or dash light, I didn't realize I had forgotten to turn them off. That meant I didn't notice...

    4) Sometime in the previous ~24 hours, my left headlight had burned out. But the fog lights are pretty bright, and in the twilight I didn't notice that the light wasn't as bright as it should have been.

So of course when the cop pulled me over for the headlight, he immediately smelled beer on me.

Eventually I was released with a lecture about even having "1 or 2" before driving, and a warning for the headlight. I'll take it! Lol

Thanks for the write up on the mod, will attempt.

"That's my story and I'm sticking to it." :burp::hattip: Sounds like you still would have gotten pulled for the headlight.

I'm so glad this thread got revived. I'm about to change all my stock switches and had no idea this was a thing. Thanks for the great write up.
