I don't know if I'll ever try that with all the decompression issues we've been having. W-72 only goes to 50k but it'd be pretty sweet to be hear from ATC you were too high.

I think we burn something like 48k lbs per hour in max afterburner at sea level. A gallon of JP-8 weighs a little under 7 pounds I think. So 114 gals/min. So like 1.9 gals/sec. You're doing about 700 mph though if you have anything slung underneath so about 11.5 nm/min.

I think an operating hour in a Super Hornet is like $15k these days. This reason is why we need to keep A-10s. And why drones are taking our jobs.

...^^^... Thanks NumNutz ... I like to hear what things cost today .... we do a lot of guessing in our little groups and we are always surprised at the cost.

This is one of very few E-W only strips in Houston, great for learning crosswinds with those hangers on the south side. Never finished my license, but got decent enough at it before life took up too much time. My instructor is now a drinking buddy.

I enjoy it, but I have no desire to own a plane since my dad passed. It was going to be a fun/useful transport back and forth from home to Houston. Now I just co-pilot every once in a while. I will say soloing was a blast and a feeling like no other.

Someone land with the parking brake on??? That tire has to be so close to blowin out though...i'd almost be afraid to get near it to let the nitrogen out. But maybe thats why I work at Disney and not on planes anymore.

I can just see the pilots now....hmmmm don't remember needing 90% thrust to taxi...how bout you Irv???

That's what I am thinking. Looks like it sunk in the asphalt. No bulging apparent on the tire.

How bout the airport lighting? I can't tell on my phone but I'm not sure he's park or was taxiing in spot or taxi way.
