I am indeed 4x2, and we do indeed have flat highways lol

People aren't driving in 4H all the time, surely?

In all the 2 and 4 wheeled vehicles I have had that were equipped with mpg displays I have never had one that read high. The Tacoma is actually pretty close though even when correcting for the 2.5% (under) error in the odometer in my truck.

I would tell the case manager that, based on your experience so far, you don't have confidence in your Tacoma drivetrain. Follow up by asking him if there is anything Toyota can do to give you piece of mind.

They should offer a platinum warranty, if not ask for it.

I tend to agree with this. I have absolutely noticed difference after the original TSB and the rev1. There are small hills that I go up every morning with my cruise set a 40mph. Prior to the rev 1 the truck always shifted from 6th to 5th and then back to 6th after climbing the hill. Now the truck always holds 6th gear. Other hills that my truck would down shift from 6th to 4th no just downshift to 5th and then back to 6th. Another problem is, is that people are expecting changes/improvement in areas that are not called out on the TSB. Beyond the 4 listed areas of concern on the TSB nobody should expect any difference after getting their ECM flashed.

With every TSB the trans seems to revert back to its old habits after about a month or so, at least that's what i have experienced. With every clearing of the trans learning and/or TSB the truck initially drives great simply because all trans learning got cleared rather than the TSB actually helping. But like i said, it reverts back. I read all these reports saying the TSB fixed all the problems, but people are getting the TSB done and then driving for a week on it and reporting it fixed everything. I wish people would report back after at least a month or so to see if the "fix" actually stuck. On multiple occasions I have simply told the dealer to clear all the learning on the trans (no reflash with TSB was done), and after each time the truck drove great. Just the act of clearing the learning seems to fix all problems! But again, it always reverts back. I have said this many times before that i feel the issues stem from the AI and the trans learning. If you have issues still then go into the dealer and tell them to clear all learning of the trans (short and long term learning) and then go for a drive. Your trans issues will be fixed for a month or so but then revert back.

Did your truck hold 6th or 5th gear longer while using cruise control immediately after the TSB and then after a few weeks go back to wanting to downshift more? Did the R to D delay disappear after the TSB and then return after a few weeks?

The warranty would certainly help with a little piece of mind however, it will not help the day to day operation of the truck which is not satisfactory.

The warranty would be helpful but this truck is no longer enjoyable to drive. It really needs a fix and all I was offered nonsense. I have 3800 miles in a year because my wife's 2013 Rave4 is better to drive.

ABOUT TIME....dealership finally acknowledged rough disengagement, kinda. TSB performed, Trans/Engine flashed, all seems great, even a MPG improvement.

Been to the dealership on a handful of times attempting to replicate the rough disengagement that occurs everytime I drive the truck after it sits for an hour or more.

Was at the dealership for 3 hours, let it cool down, brief meeting w/ service manager, parts manager, and a test drive with a Master tech. 3rd stop on the drive and boom, there it was. "that was it, did you feel that?" "Yeah, kinda, that slight clunk." The master tech said. "Slight, that was a little more than slight, I responded."

He rephrased his response, but refrained from acknowledging the true feel. Back to the dealership. Initially they tried to rush me out without paperwork, I requested it and the device tech attempted to write "slight clunk when stopping, not abnormal." I questioned the accuracy of referring to it as not abnormal, and pushed for the master tech to come out of the back and report it was not abnormal. This was the whole reason I was there I stated. The service tech disappeared for 5 mins and returned without the master tech, wrote "noise heard one time and all systems check out ". This is now documented after toyota sent a field rep out and dispelled everything before even leaving the dealership. Toyota field rep wouldn't even drive the truck to try and replicate. I'm done rambling, something is on paper. First thing I ever reported to the dealership after picking up the truck 3 days later, only after reading tacoma world I realized the crazy shifting was abnormal. First toyota, came from an 2015 F150

I'm with you man. They gave me and extended warranty and I still think about selling every day.

Off-road though, it's a beast. Totally stock it is amazing.

Back when they were fixing my door seals they gave me a corolla loaner and it felt more peppy and predictable.

5K service today, asked them not to do TSB, but wanted them to check AT fluid level because of flair first thing in the AM around slow corner (<10MPH). They checked AT level and said it needed toped up but did not document amount. Also did NC oil change, and that is weird. I do not notice any difference in the way the truck drives other than the learning mode. I already had the first TSB because of my build date. Never have had any of the TSB symptoms.

Never did the original TSB cause it seems to take 2 months to get an appointment at my dealer. Rev 1 came out when I needed to do my 5000mi checkup so I set it up in December and they squeezed me in in by February. Rev1 made a huge difference at first and I was totally happy. Over the following month it slipped back to it's old ways and now shifts just as erratically as before and my MPG has gone back to the low 16s (from a high of upper 17s after Rev1). Rev1 DID fix my shift flairs for the most part, fixed my delay from reverse to drive and although I did not have any clunks when downshifting it did not cause them to start happening either. If Toyota (or any other aftermarket programmer that will be coming out) had a way to disable the learning I'm thinking I would be completely satisfied with this truck.

This has been my thought after both updates. Although I've never thought of asking them to clear the learning.

Any information from the Field Mouse when a fix for the clunk may be coming?

Just got my truck back from the dealer. Shop foreman who worked on my truck said the transmission was half a quart low.

Now the question: Like some have done, they put some kind of markings on the transmission bolt just to be sure it was properly checked. So I went ahead and made a yellow marking on the bolt. Got back home and check underneath the transmission and it was evident that there was some transmission oil by the pan (shop foreman was lazy enough not to wipe it)
Now checking the bolt, it look like it hasn't been touched! What ya think? Did I marked the wrong bolt? I will be talking to the service manager about this but just want make sure I didn't mark the wrong bolt and look stupid...

Right fill bolt. Seal Looks broke to me. I've had paint pen bolts come off with all the paint and go right back on to the same place before. Why would they splash some aft on there if they said it was low and filled it they probably did.
