wife had an accident totaled 2016 highlander xle. Toyota does a great job at absorbing most of the impact, and air bags work great for the extra protection, but at the expense of the vehicle. That is good because I wouldn't want them to fix it anyway. Easy replacing car then injuries or worse. Went and bought a Subaru Outback limited, salesperson said Toyota owns Subaru or has interest in the company with design. Either way can't go wrong with either choice Toyota or Subaru.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
Probably a good safe choice... I can't get over the subaru design - does nothing for me. Glad the wife is OK.

Thanks, she's doing fine. A lot of safety built into both companies for sure

Toyota owns 16% of Fuji Heavy Industries of which Subaru is a subsidiary of. Hence the collaboration with the FRS/BRZ and Toyota labeled forklifts.

Subaru is a solid vehicle for sure. I've always liked their commercials with the tag line "they lived". A lot of safety considerations go into their design.

I've worked for Subaru for the last 2 years. Bought a 2000 Impreza shortly after starting there as a commuter car. They are fantastic vehicles, and an amazing company to work for.

I just ordered a 2017 WRX/STI!!! Can't wait to get it! Still keeping the FJ though.

My wife has a Forester, other than the lesbian stigma their SUVs are pretty well equipped considering all the other brands AWD variants are $1-2K more

No major changes on the 2017 right? 2018 is when they do the facelift and changes with the brakes IIRC.

    Fantastic vehicle choice BTW!

I'll say...avoid Cobb, Crawford Performance, etc unless you're hell bent on living out of your FJ down by the river

Yeah, 17 is the same as the 15's, I wanted to hold out for the 18 with the facelift, because they look amazing, but I'm impatient. :D

Pro tunes are the only way to go, OTS tunes are never good. That being said, I'm leasing this car. I'm gonna keep it stock and just drive it. Enjoy having a warranty for a change lol. The most I'll do is either a cat-back or an axle back, just for the sound.

How does the stock exhaust sound? I have driven plenty of the STIs at the dealership, but very gently. Never how I would drive it.

Try simply running without the muffler and see how loud it actually is. The turbo muffles quite a bit of sound in many cars.

I've heard them with the axle back muffler delete, but that was just too loud for my taste. Might just leave it stock, they don't sound too bad!

*STI... It's different. WRX's are what fuck-boi's drive. STI's are for us enthusiast folk who enjoy performance. and vaping....

I personally am not a fan. Their intakes are iffy. My ex has one on her 04 wagon. Exhaust, I'd prefer TurboXS. And their off-the-shelf tunes are kinda dumpy. Good for spinning a bearing or developing rod knock lol.

    Congrats!

I'm thinking about trading in my '15 WRX for a '18 (not sure if WRX or STi)...

Why didn't you want to wait?

Congrats! You have a build thread? :)
