We should have pricing in a day or two. I have my laser guy buried in work. I think we're building them a new wing on their shop.

I got this rattle too, but it seems to be coming from the passenger side dash vent/speaker.

Anyone know how to remove the speaker cover? I don't want to break anything.

Update: After removing the speaker cover and A frame panel and applying padded tape to areas of concern, I still had the rattle sound. It was better, but still noticeable. While the A frame panel was off, I had noticed the airbag wire was hanging loose, so I again removed the panel and taped the wire to the frame. Temps yesterday morning were in the 40's and so far, it's quiet. Unfortunately, I now hear a rattle in the dashboard near the middle defrost vents. I can press on the area and stop the rattle.

I recommend removing when it's warm. When cold, the plastic clips a brittle and break off easily.

I followed this video to remove the A frame and speaker covers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXRE7fuk36o

I have that same "rattle" near my middle defrost vent! I tried removing the stereo and stuffing some foam padding in there, but no luck stopping the rattle. It's not the same "tick" sound from the passenger dash speaker area. I'm hesitant to remove the passenger dash airbag cover to get back there. Let us know if and how you resolve that rattle.

I've noticed when my electric side windows are raised or lowered I can feel the door panel move. Anyone else notice this?

Well do. With the radio out, how far can you see inside the dash?

Updated my original post with newfound side lid vibration. I've heard of some saying there's still a vibration type sound. Some have said lower kickpanel plastic nut and some say its underlying wiring, but I found the lid being noisy. After some more felt tape in the right spots, that vibration buzzing sound is non-existent.

Thanks for the work on this. My truck has 6500 miles on it and this rattle is driving me crazy. Started out intermittent, but now it's every. single. drive. Can't turn the radio up loud enough to cover it. I'll give this a go this weekend.

Thanks for this post!! I reviewed this post at the dealer and they were able to correct this horrid little rattle/static sound. They were grateful for the post as they have a few other 2016 Taco's they have not been able to fix. Your research and great write up has helped and will help many with this issue.

Very welcome... glad it helped you out. Toyota needs to do a TSB on this if their techs are finding it useful. Tell them someone at Honda fixed it for them!

That is funny! Now about my 2016 Fit..It has a very similar issue that just popped up at 11,000 miles! Going to take it in and get it looked next oil change. We love that FIT!! Such a great around town car and works super great as my primary Lyft ride.

    Thanks again!

Have you figured out a solution? I'm wondering if the vent can pop off?

I was having the exact same noise but it was actually the wire cover on the review mirror. I loosened it slightly and the sound is gone permanently. Several people including a Toyota tech riding shotgun said it was coming from the center of the dash despite the fact I swore it was coming from the passengaer speaker cover. Just saying if you're having this issue, you may try this before pulling your dash apart.

Curious if that mirror wire really was the source of your rattle. I think this is my next step. My rattle sure sounds like it's coming from the climate control area or maybe cup holder area. That wire you identified will be super easy to check so I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion. You said you loosened it? Was it the wire casing contacting the mirror or were the wires loose inside the casing? Thanks.

@GPsevinSixx - In all of your rattle troubleshooting, have you ever dug beneath the passenger speaker cover? I'm still chasing a rattle in that area after felt taping the a-pillar and side lid as you suggested. I pulled my speaker cover off and tapped near the rear most bolt securing the tweeter and found that area to rattle like crazy. The speaker bolt was tight but the defrost vent that runs beneath the speaker cover rattles against the panel that the cover clips to. My defrost vent is really loose but I can't figure out how to tighten it so I stuffed some foam in there between the vent and the dash panel. That helped a lot. I think I'm 85% there. Curious if my dash speaker area is a mess or if anybody else has noticed this. Thanks.

@2017SilverTRD , I remember the ducting was loose on mine, but once installed the male end on the speaker cover that interfaces with the female duct end secures it to some degree and should prevent any rattling. As far as digging deeper, I did remove the front textured pad to get to a box that sits just below the speaker area. This box has a wire harness attached to it. Some posts have indicated that this resulted in the reduction of noise once the harness was moved around a bit. I believe this box was a yellowish color.

The only noise I get now is the center panel (display/ vent gunmetal colored piece) creaking a bit, but that's only happened in the summer when things are hot and expanded. I haven't bothered pulling it apart at all yet. Not bothering me enough at the moment.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you @GPsevinSixx for that info. I'll reinstall my speaker cover and see if that shuts the rattle up a bit. I left the cover off this last time because I still had a faint rattle to find and it actually was worse. Totally makes sense if that speaker cover is supposed to help secure it. I'll try the box behind the textured pad, too. Does this just pry off with trim tools? Thanks!

No it does not, I had a brand new member ask me about the removal of that pad today also. I really can't remember exactly what I pulled, but it was a few pieces since there's an assembly order for all of it. I didn't want to break any tabs and remembered there were possibly two (one for sure) short philips head screws that hold it together on the lower corners. The side lid, center panel (vent/display), and glove box (not removed, just loosened) need to be disassembled as shown in my photos to access it. I believe the pad was the first to be assembled (while reassembling) and the last to be removed.
