I personally wouldn't use rubbing alcohol on my auto unless it's on the glass to remove tree sap or something. It can leave a mark on your clear coat.

Take some rubbing compound; put a thin layer on there and rub away with a microfiber cloth. Go in circles; may need to repeat it a few times. If that does not work; go buy 2000grit 3m Wetsand paper; Get a bucket of water; dip the sand paper in the water and wet the area your sanding.

Slowly sand away(Don't apply pressure; let the sandpaper do the work) Sand in a circular motion until you see that the residue has come off. Once it looks clean you'll have to get some 3m rubbing compound that'll remove 2000 grit sanding; Start rubbing it on the surface and use a clean microfiber cloth to hand buff the area until you see the scratches from the sandpaper is gone.

    DUDE!
why hasnt anyone suggested the claybar yet???
the clay bar will get that off and you wont have to use chemicals that can/will mess up your paint.

No chance. If the other steps didnt work, a clay bar wont either.

The only reason that i feel like it will work, is because i went through the exact same problem this guy had. A buddy of mine removed some molding on the side of his old chevy and the residual glue was left behind (just like this badge) He was convinced that nothing would take it off. The clay bar took it right off. Now dont get me wrong, it took a little time. The residual glue from this tacoma badge shouldnt take more than a few minutes with that clay bar.

I am planning on removing the big "Texas Edition" medallions from my '13 and this thread is giving me second thoughts - though since mine is not that old I am hoping the residue issue won't be that bad.
The OP has my sympathies -

That is how mine is. No badges at all. When I bought it the door badges were already gone. When I had the tailgate repainted I had them leave the badges off. I like the clean look as it was really busy before.
