I took mine off today since I'm getting the shell repainted and I unscrewed all of the torque screws by hand

I'm familiar w/ silicone, it's the 3M Marine Adhesive that I'm wondering about. I'll have to read up on it.

irish_11, or anyone that has installed Proline tracks, did you use the mounting bolts that came with the Proline tracks?

They're probably fine, but it appears that a heavier duty bolt could be used and it would still fit well within the mounting hole that is drilled in the tracks. Seems like an easy upgrade to strengthen the mounting hardware...

Here's a pic of the stock bolt that came with the tracks.

Just keep throwin' money at it.
I used the stock bolts, but mounted 5 per side not just the 3 they had predrilled. I also added a fender washer on the inside to spread the load. I put silicone in the holes I drilled as well to seal it up. Its been a wet winter/spring up here so far and no issues.

The good news is they upgraded the tracks from three to four predrilled holes. And yes, definitely going to be using a fender washer on the inside. Thanks for the feedback!

For you guys using the Proline tracks, what have you used to secure a rack or anything else to the tracks? I installed mine this weekend and am a little concerned with the cross section geometry difference from these tracks and a Thule/Yakama style. Have you come across any dedicated T nuts or other hardware that work well to spread out the load?

i have the same question if anyone wants to give life to this thread again.

also: are most mounts designed for Thule tracks compatible with proline ones?

    thanks!

I used a little Goop around the bolts, right below the head. Supposed to be a little more durable than silicone.
