Hey everyone, please don't crucify me for asking this question

I'm looking to get off my terrible stock tires, and I need some help being that I live in the Great White North. I'm driving a 2012 TRD Sport Long bed on the stock 17 inch rims, and I'll be using this as a work and play truck. The end goal is to have the ultimate fish/hunt/camp truck, so it needs to be able to tow and haul a decently heavy payload. I am unsure of whether to go with a slightly thinner and taller tire for the snow and mud, wider tire for some larger trails. I have a 3 inch or so lift planned, but that won't be for a little bit. I'll be putting on a canopy, and possibly a sleeping and storage platform. Is there any suggested tire size and width with a rim width that would be most well suited as well as any changes I need to make to my vehicle (spacers, trimming, ect.)

Any assistance would be great, you're all super helpful

I'd recommend two sets of tires, no all terrain is great at snow and ice.

For the summer I have a LT E rated Goodyear Duratrac and winter I have Hankook Ipikes. This way I have the best in both worlds. The ipikes are awesome on snow trails and the Duratracs can handle some snow and ice without issue.

If you do just get one set of tires, get a winter rated all terrain like the Duratrac or BFG K/O2 so you have the best fighting chance again winter.

Stick to one size up and you'll look fine at stock and at 3" without any rubbing. So 265/70R17

My friend has the Duratracs on his silverado and loves them during the winter, and right now running the Dueller H/T tires, anything will be an improvement in traction at all times in the year. Another one of my friends really recommended the KO2s. Any difference on the 16 inch to a 17 inch rim?

I'm running the lighter load range D Duratracks on my truck in Michigan, and I love them.
Great in deep snow, mud and winter roads.

Looks like the Duratracs and the KO2s pretty much dominate the market for AT tires in the snow, Any recommendations on wheel width and tire width? Looking to get some decent aftermarkets in the near future, just unsure of where to start

I'd rather not think of all the $ spent :(
I had Blizzacks for a winter tire on my 3/4 ton plow truck. Those things were the best. I was always in 2 wheel drive with no issues. Wore them out and got studded for winter. They failed in comparison. My buddy got some Geolanders on his work rig and loved them so much he put them on his FJ, CJ and 3/4 ton and runs them year round up here.

I'm running stock still (2500 miles) those Kevlar. They do ok, in 4x4.

Interested to see what works for you. Please let me know

has anyone heard anything about the Falken Wildpeak at3w and M/t? I've heard that the AT3W is not as good in the mud as it should be, and living here it's a bit of a necessity to have good mud tires.

I can dig that. I love having a truck that so many people love and offer support for, but I like having some special snowflake parts to make my truck my own and different.
