I'm searching for a 2 - 3" lift for my 05 Tacoma, but everything seems the same except for a different brand name. I've been all over and I want to get some input on which brands you guys like best, which ones last for the price and which ones I don't have to spend my entire life savings on and still get a fair lift and ride.

Old Man Emu for the best all around. That is if you want a quality product for a decent price.

    Atreuh,

I went with Bilstein 5100 Shocks up front set at 1.75" of lift with my stock coils.

For the rear I bought a Wheelers 3-leaf pack and added it to the rear springs. To take advantage of a little extra travel in the rear I used OME N182 shocks.

This gave me about 2" lift and it's been totally fine for wheeling. On road it is a little stiff over bumps , but some people remove their sway bar to relieve that ( and gain travel).

I didn't have to extend brake lines and I didn't have any vibrations after doing the lift, which you'll find is what lots of folks say are after effects of going with over 2" lift.

Most all the options out there are good options, with some variances in ride characteristics. Not sure what the budget is you're working but if you are open to suggestions I would start with looking at the New Eibach Pro-Truck Shocks with some OME 2885 coils up front and if your stock leaf springs are in good shape, our 3 Leaf Progressive Add-a-leaf kit out back.

Ok I'm open to these, i like the add-a-leaf idea but I believe mine need to be replaced, my year was one included in a leaf spring recall but I haven't done anything about it yet, mainly because I don't see any apparent signs of damage or ware. But a replacement would give me more peace of mind when I'm climbing the hills. My price range is roughly $500-1k. Still open to all ideas! Thanks a lot guys!

That price range is going to limit your options severely. Plus unless you plan on doing the install yourself, you still have to pay for the install, then an alignment, and probably bigger tires.

Better to exercise patience and save up a bit until you can afford what you really want/need. Ask anyone whose purchased 2+ suspensions on here. :D

Thanks boogie. I like that advice, I have bigger tires already and they rub slightly if I turn the wheel all the way so I avoid that as much as possible! What brand would you recommend for a 2" kit?

Depends on what kind of off-roading you will be doing. This Saturday I'm actually installing my lift: Bilstein 5100s (set at 0) + OME 887 coils + Light Racing UCAs up front ....OME Dakars + Extended travel 5100s in the rear. With the strut assembly and extended rear brake lines, that ran me $1600 through Headstrong Offroad.

First off, see if you can get your leafs replaced for free. If so, do it. Then get this kit which will get you ~2.5" of lift.

    http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p440/Coil/Bilstein_5100_Kit_-_(HS05BK-1).html

If you're an access cab, get 2884 coils. If you're a double cab, get 2885 coils. No UCAs and yes to strut assembly since your truck is older and it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace your tophats. For the rear lift, the deaver AAL is cheaper, but the 3 leaf AAL will ride better. That's your call.

I had this kit and it rode great! Pretty close to stock actually.
