So I have this weird knock sound coming from the engine bay. Can be heard from inside.

It sounds like when you have a stick shift vehicle in a higher gear then needed and hit the gas pedal.

Any ideas?? Just serviced the tranny last week, all services done by dealer. Oil changed last week as well. I asked dealer about it months ago and they couldn't get it to replicate.

    2010 Tacoma v6, 106,000mls

    Thanks for.any help

There is a TSB for engine knock. It happen to me on my 2012. I noticed it on hot days going up hill. Sounds like when driving a stick in a lower gear going up hill. They applied the TSB. Seemed to fix it in my 2012. I think the program just retarts or advances the timing.

If it's the same issue then it's concerned an Emissions issue. Should be cover by the emissions warranty.

The dealership looked at all TSB's for 2010's and there is none for that year regarding engine knock.

I'm low on fuel and will fill up on 92 octane and will report back. I do think it's not that big of a deal, just annoying when I hear it. It's been present many years and only when outside temps are up.
