I drink from half gallon jugs, I fill with sweet tea. I put 2 or 3 in the passenger seat wrapped up in a towel. They stay cold most of the day.

You know what's best for you. I personally would go for 3 mobile coolers over 1 stationary, it may not be stationary but it looks heavy. Honestly out of the ones I've purchased I would definatly buy the soft 40 again.
