Sober? No problem! Still drunk from the night before while it snowed all night and it's your first night in the tent and you have to pee real bad? Face plant in the snow....Ask me how I know.

I've owned my smittybilt for a little over a year now and love it. Been to at least 5 states in snow, rain, wind and desert heat and never had a problem. Mine is on a half rack in the bed (see attached pic) so I had to drill two extra holes in the ladder to get the right height but other than that the thing has been a beast. I would highly recommend it!

    Mostly stuff I built.
I have a no name tent and it is 100% identical to a buddy of mines TJM tent only mine doesn't have the badging on it.

I have found the forward decent works best for me.

Great question! It's a delicate dance, especially in the dark. I usually just sit on the edge and hang my feet off, then turn around and walk down.

The only saving grace was that the ground was snow covered...

There actually is! There's a red strap on each side, attached to the center folding hinge, that's designed to help you getting in and out. How well it works is debatable though.

I can't speak for RTTs but my experience with smittybuilt has always been bad. Their stuff is cheaper because they will breakdown quicker, poor quality and manufacturing techniques.

Based on how real manufacturing works they are not the same just because they come out of china or have the same specs. Perfect example is rifle scopes. All the lenses come out of the same factory the difference that the higher quality companies like Schmidt and Bender get to choose their lenses and they pick the best ones. Your cheap rifle scopes like Nikon are made with the lowest graded lenses but literally came out of the same plant.

My Maytag washer and dryer came out of the same factory as LG but my maytag is made with different parts. Same can be said with almost any product.
