Thanks everybody for your kind words.
I just would like to give ya a little history about my dad. read it if ya want or not.
He was born in Monroe Louisiana on July15, 1931. His father was a store owner. He grew up like most kids but he loved airplanes. Without his parents knowledge he got his pilots license at age 16. He joined the Navy in 1952 and became a Medical Corpsmen. Most of his work was in the Laboratory. He served all over the world and on all types of ships. From carriers to destroyers. He eventually was stationed at Jacksonville, Florida for his final tour and retired here in 1972. He then became Microbiology supervisor for Methodist Hospital and worked there for 28 years.
In 1989 he had a heartattack. His family had a history of that. His father dying at age 52. He then had one last September and had a Five Bypass.
My dad fought hard. He never gained his weight back but he lived the last eleven months happy for every day that he was still here. I'm posting a picture of him taken a few months ago at a Wings of Freedom show at Keystone Heights.
The beautiful thing about his death if there can be such a thing is this. He got up and went to the restroom at 3 AM. He got back in bed next to his wife of 50 years and slowly went to sleep. I believe it was a very peaceful death. I will miss him terribly.
Thank you for letting my write this.

Well it looks like he got the most he could out of his life. I'm glad he went in peace, we all wish we could go away the same way when it's our turn.

That sounds like the best way to go if you ask me. I'm glad it was peaceful and he was next to his wife. Your dad sounds like a good man and you sound like a lucky man for having him as your dad.

Again thank you everybody for your kind words. I still haven't had my moment where I should let loose all my emotions but I think it will come soon. My son is in Missouri at Basic Training and he doesn't know yet. I wanted him to finish without any distractions. He's got 4 days left. I guess I'll tell him when he has liberty on Thursday. He comes home on Friday. Damn, I know he won't take it well.
    Anyway, time to move on...
