Naw I got the black ones, but they didn't cost an extra $400/pair.

I'm the one who is going to get them powdercoated gunmetal because YOU reminded me about that one run DSM did. Fucker.

How much extra did you pay for black kings? I don't really remember, but I'm pretty sure it was around there.

Lol, just because "you say , if we were to see a continued issue". Dude your a company. Why not redesign the shock reservoir ? With a different fitting ? How much would it cost for you to send a new pair of shocks and take the old ones back ? Cheap bastards can't even include a spanner wrench on a thousand dollar suspension. Should be ashamed.

So you say they can be installed without notching. But then you just change the instructions? Seriously?

    This thread is dead.

the horse is dead....the dead horse has been undead and then deaded again.....

after wasting life (which is pretty much every thread I seem to pick) here is the result so we can all move on

Shock leaked, OP wants warranty, company said no (with reason), OP proceeded to take to forum to bash company(success), Evidence was provided by both parties to point out who is right (nobody, because if I picked a side I would get scolded), OP still has leaking shock and a mob behind him with pitchforks, I lost time in my life.... I could have been taking selfies.....the end.

Good luck to OP, honestly just my advise to you as a "friend"(since I only know you from IG) next time, stay calm and hit up someone who may be able to help you without all the drama *coughmecough* , it makes it very difficult to get help once a gauntlet is thrown down. take it for what it is worth, just my advice.

furthermore - private emails should remain private (thats why there is a confidential disclaimer on company emails, I have written to many companies and trust me it is there)

happy trails and see you around!

Glad I didn't invest in Icon. If the shock needs to have a frame modification whether it is simple grinding or not, it doesn't fit the truck. In my opinion Icon should state this up front. To state that you didn't grind the shock bucket and that leads to a leaking shock seems ridiculous.

Too soon on trying to push King when everyone is bashing Icon?

    LOL!

I was going to comment on the whole situation but it looks like it's dying down now.

We have never installed Icon's as we only use King for our Kits and Race Trucks.

There are always 2 sides of a situation and I can see them from both sides.

A lot of companies say 100% bolt on when in fact 90% of the time, something needs to be modified or altered.

I believe the situation got way bigger than it should have. Install error? Maybe. Not reading the instructions? Of course.

There should have been some sort of compromise somewhere.

Send the customer some replacement parts ( I don't believe a whole shock is necessary ) and call it a day.

    It's happen to us before.

As a someone who works for a company that has competition everywhere, you need to try and stand out over the rest to succeed.

I am willing to bet that they dont want to redesign the shock as they use this body on many many other trucks, so it saves money to use the same part, custom valving and a little sanding on the shock mount. its smart biz. also, I have yet to buy a shock that included a spanner lol, from fox, to king, to FOA, to icon. having a custom shock body for each truck would cost $$$$. just not worth it for a few people that dont read directions lol

yes, it could be installed with out notching, but sounds like people didnt read the directions, so they figured adding a notch would solve the issues if they didnt clock it correctly. guess what, people still dont read. should be say OME sucks ass too? everybody loves them

but when i got my rear leaf springs, there were no directions nothing. sure they "bolt" on, but if you dont also do something with the brake line, you could easily rip it and loose all brakes. Did i come on here freaking out like a little girl? no, I assessed the situation and fixed it. no drama.

People need to stop being stupid, open their eyes and take responsibility for their own stupidity.

This thread has more than ran its course. Curious how much longer it will go on for before it fizzles out.
