Well since I didn't have everything I needed today to work on the camper this weekend, I put in the new to me radio I picked up from @Old_Skool

A big upgrade since my BT hack was not cutting it for me. The install was a bit more than I expected, but I like the results!

I still need to add the backup cam and find a way to color match the interior a bit better.

That's been on my mod list for awhile. Wanted BT so got an aftermarket Kenwood. I fuckin hate it. Least intuitive user interface I've seen. 18 presets, gotta scan through all of em to change station. BT doesn't connect 1/2 the time. Can't see a damn thing in the sunlight.

How you like the functions/features of it? Gonna watch the B/S/T a little closer...

Same issue with sunlight with my alpine. Been considering the OEM route myself

So far so good! The menus are a bit dated, but it doesn't have entune, so the BT and functions are solid. It's basically a souped up dumb radio like the one it came with.

In sunlight it looks ok but I need to spend some more time with it and the back lighting is white compared to amber so that might look weird. The audio is much better than the original stock radio.

Overall for the price it seemed great. $325 is not cheap and there are some good head units for that price, but I'm not really an audio guys so OEM has always been enough for me.

Back to the camper updates! I ordered a sewing machine and supplies to bang out the fabric myself. @Overlanerd got the fabric and we should be meeting up next week to split it up. I should also have the sewing machine next week as well.

I got all the little things in the mail yesterday. Thread, bungee cord, Velcro, hardware and webbing.

    IMG_9699.jpg

I got to spend a bit of time wiring up the thing. I still need to add some wiring for the fan, but this needed to be cleaned up. The brake light and second outlet for a utility light. I drilled and ran everything through the framing. The final connection will get cleaned and bundled up once I add 2 more wires for the fan and ceiling light.

Looking good Iggy! No need to split the fabric. I'll give you all 25 yards. If you end up using more than 12, I'll order more.

Man that thing is gonna be awesome!!!
@Iggy that plug in the bed is sweet. Something like that would be perfect to run power into my RTT.

I got a few more things done this week. I wired up the rear light and finished and carpeted the second half of the bed (but that wont be installed until the fabric is finished.

Speaking of fabric, the sewing machine came in. This thing is built really well! It came with some test stitches on thick canvas. It looks like it won't have a problem going through 6+ plus layers of heavy material.

I'm really curious what the comparisons are vs flatbed.
