Ok so I left for a month and came back and my battery was bad. Went to auto zone, got a new battery and it started fine. Very randomly if I do not drive my truck all day it will take about 5-6 seconds of cranking to fire up, every other time it fires up right away. This doesn't happen every time it sits for extended periods. Could it be my new battery? I have a 2013 4.0 and she only has 20k on her but I'm thinking it might be a fuel pump issue, any Ideas?

I'm gonna say start with new plugs and see what happens. Other than that look for chewed wiring and good luck!

    Build thread coming soon!
Is it the factory security system? They act funny if you hook the battery up and try to start them immediately by firing and stalling right away. My security system is starting to have trouble reading my key because it was in the ignition 24/7 since the truck mostly sits in my shop. Now, even if I only leave it in the ignition for an hour or so the truck will act funny when it starts. With the key freshly inserted, no issue

I sure hope not squirrels chewed out all the wiring in my 06

EDIT: ran outside to check and all looked well. Would it really need new plugs at 20k? Could you maybe give me insight on why the plugs would be the problem thank you.

its so odd. It won't do it after sitting in my driveway all night but I didn't drive at work for about 9 hours today and it cranked for 6 seconds before starting. It always do this at work when not driven for a while but not after sitting overnight.

My 15 or Dcsb would do this occasionally. By turning keys to the stop before ignition and waiting for a few seconds then starting I have not had a problem since. You can here a pump start up when key is turned to on wait for it to stop then start. Vaguely remember someone saying it was the fuel pump pressurizing fuel system or something. But whatever it is try it it works.

If its cranking for 6 seconds I doubt its the battery.

Ive read this before and will be doing it from now on. I just found it odd that it started randomly since it never did it for the last year I've owned it.
