So I didn't always come on here to research everything I did with my truck. So unfortunately I was given a new shift knob that was universal and instead of thread it had three tiny hex screws that clamped the shaft. I'm sure you all know this. Stupid thing never stayed tight and my mother in law finally got me the TRD knob for my birth day. Problem is I chipped the black coat on the shaft already. Any one know how or with what I can touch it up with?

Ya maybe, the thread is coated also though so I'd have to leave that. Plus it's a good protection layer so I'd rather keep it if I can.

Sand the rough edges and paint it. Done and done. Don't over think it.

How about a piece of heat shrink tubing over the shaft?

That right there is thinking outside the box. That is a great idea. Just need to find heat shrink that would first over it.

    Brilliant!
I bet I could easily find that at Ace or Home Depot. Thank you!

Your best bet would be harbor freight, they sell rolls of it for like a dollar, you could cut it to length. Home Depot tends to have short pre cut pieces they sell for kind of a high price
