    Guys,

My mechanic gave me this small end of a cable harness that is the other half of my e brake. It's 7 inches long with an eyelet on one end and the barrel on the other. Sorry, not a mechanic. Does anyone know if Dorman or anyone else sells just this piece of the E brake cable so as you don't have to buy a whole dam harness?

Thanks in advance to any responders.

    Brian

Posted pic. I know that's the next thing to get balls busted. It's my flip phone pic. I had to run out to a Sportmen's club meeting after posting and should have tried to post a pic with post. I just "figured" maybe you've all been through it as I'm guessing this would be a common failure with a 14 year old truck. My mechanic said this is part of a 400 dollar harness and to find out if there is a part number just for THIS particular part of the cable on the end of the harness, that can be cross referenced with Dorman or any other manufacturer that sells cables. If a better pic is needed, I'll borrow a camera from work and bring it home.

Again, I don't care about getting balls busted, if I can get some info. Thanks for info Harper.

Thanks for posting the pic. It's just common etiquette busting balls around here: to get you help, the next fellow with your situation help, to persuade the next poster to post pics and to keep the same questions from not constantly being asked (which never works) ;).

Is that a wiring harness? Or a piece of wire CABLE? Hard to tell from the pic...

If it's the piece of wire cable I'm thinking it is. I doubt that's sold via an individual piece. But it wouldn't be hard to make your own.

Since you're not mechanically-inclined aftermarket probably wouldn't be more than $150. Pulled from a junkyard probably less than $50. And maybe someone parting out their truck has one laying around here for even less...
There are two different types thou. After the axle one type goes over the leaves (usually earlier models) and one that goes under the leaves (later models).

But we need to know if it's a harness or cable, or a better pic.

It's a cable. And yes, I'm thinking now making it might be the best route as I've only some Dorman cables online but NOT with this style / end of cable. My mechanic said he'd hunt when he has the time but he's swamped, so I figured I'd do the leg work. Trouble is they crushed a lot of these trucks, so not so many "used" parts around. I'll try to bring home my work camera. Thanks for your time.

Ah okay. (I think?)That's the small section of cable that via pivot point of your rear axle is engaged through the pivot from your main e-brake cable assembly to your drum bell crank when you pull the e-brake handle?

If that's the case, one side has a press fit stopper (barrel) which you can buy and the crimper tool also. Section of proper diameter cable can be had at most home improvement stores. I'd recommend Stainless Steel or at the bare minimum galvi Steel.
You may have to get creative with the eyelet side.
    Maybe these will work?

When you find the the diameter of the cable you're needing, cross that size reference with "wire eyelet" and search around with what works.
And I'd recommend a high quality hydraulic or ratcheting crimper to buy or borough.
    Good luck.

You are right. I spied some cable repair kits that have the eyelet I'm look for. My shitty pic doesn't show it clearly enough, but it doesn't match the cable ends shown above. It's more of an open square. This might be the best approach.

    Thanks to all who replied.

Oh I forgot. That section of cable(if this is the part I thinking it is) doesn't have much adjustability at the bell crank. Get an accurate measurement from the faulty piece. And make sure the new section is too short (1/2" Max) rather than too long.
