    Hey Everyone,
I'm going to be getting a Flowmaster Super 40 at the end of the month and was planning on chopping the exhaust. To my dismay, i stumbled across a comment from someone who made an off handed comment about fumes seeping into the cab of double cabs with chopped exhausts. Does anybody own a double cab with a chopped exhaust who can shed a little light or experience on this issue.

As always, any feed back will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Seems possible. The cab and axle are closer together.

Mine dumpes before the axle and fumes will collect if it sits and idles for awhile but ive never had it come in the cab.

There's a reason exhaust has to exit way from the passenger compartment and outside the body. I've been hit with carbon minoxide twice, neither experience was pleasant. But you should be seeing some folks anytime now who say they did it and no problems. It may be a while yet, they type soooo sloooow for some reason.

mine dumps but the axle is pretty corroded from it, the ABS wire covering was pretty crusty as well. Exhaust has been like this for a few years. Honestly i regreted the Magnaflow or flowmaster i put on, ended up getting a regular muffler put back on a few years later but still had it dumping. Wish i had kept the original set up intact. I dont think i gained much power and made roadtrips really annoying.

The only reason why I did mine was because I relocated the rear shocks and the stock exhaust was in the way.

I run the stock exhaust and I am quite happy nice and quiet and exhaust behind the axle is nice.

Anytime the exhaust is under the cab always a chance to get fumes when your not moving

I didnt think the 3.4L sounded that great with a flowmaster either. If you could route it out the back though it may be better.

You could always have the exit "turn" facing toward the outside of the truck, 45 degrees down. that way less chance of it building up and gives it a path to flow. or just chop it after the axle so it's already facing down.

but if you're just talking about cutting and adding there's no problem if the right clamps are used. I cut off the rear flange of the intermediate pipe years ago and use a band clamp for the muffler.

How about doing it G-style. Mercedes doesn't have a problem with it exiting directly underneath the rear passenger door (although the rear passenger might).

I cut mine right at the downturn and like most said if it idles for a few minutes, you will start to get whifs of exhaust. As far as daily driving and wheeling, I cut it 8 months ago and I have yet to smell anything.
