Hey guys, I've been lurking for the past few weeks in anticipation of purchasing my first Tacoma next week!

I'll be getting a 2017 TRD off-road in either MGM or quicksand (quite an internal struggle) and look forward to sharing my Tacoma journey with you all!

    See you in the forums
    Jeff

Welcome to the club! I vote MGM, but I'm a bit biased.

Welcome to TW! I love MGM and went with it but I see them all the time on the road. The Quicksand is a really sweet color. If I hadnt wanted MGM for so long I would have gone with Quicksand or maybe even Inferno.

I've also put in an order for the TRD wheels and plan on researching a modest lift if maybe 2-3". I've got a set of km2s on my current off-road rig, I love them but in considering going with the ko2s this time.

Any recommendations for a good tire size in the ko2s? I believe the TRD rims are 16". I want something that won't cause much rubbing issues with stock ride height, but something that will look good with a bit if lift.

265/75r16. It's +1" over stock and is the largest you can go without rubbing.

I was reading a post about 275/70/17s vs 265/70/17s with the TRD pro wheels (the black 17"ones). A lot if people were running the 275s at stock suspension and getting rubbing issues (some even with a lift). I'm thinking the 265/70/17 might be a safer bet?

I don't think the size difference is that great? Less than 1" if I'm not mistaken?

265/70r17 and 265/75r16 are both the same diameter, just different wheel sizes. They're both 1" over stock and can be run on stock suspension! The key to making it look bigger is an aggressive sidewall, and the ko2s are pretty good with that.

Hmm, now I can't decide if I like the 16" or the 17" wheel. Is it just me or do the 16" setup with the 265/75r16 look beefier?

I guess if I'm going ahead with the TRD pro wheels, I'm locked into an r17

The 16" definitely look beefier! It's because there's more sidewall.

I went 17" wheels running a 265/70r17 C rated KO2. Its been a good setup that i've been running for 5+ months now. I love the aggresive look, better offroad traction and they suprised me by how quiet they are on the highway. I did have a small amount of rubbing on the backside near the cab. It just barely touches the plastic fender when it compresses in a turn, like when turning into a driveway with a sudden incline to get in.

I dont rub any more but kinda wish I had a larger tires since lifting my truck last week. I talked with Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road to figure out what I wanted to go with and she was fantastic to deal with. I ended up with an OME setup getting 2-3" of lift. One day I may decide to upgrade to a better coil over setup from King/ADS or something else but for my first time lifting a truck I thought I would be good starting off with something that didnt completely break the bank so I could afford other upgrades.
